Does your dealer give a loaner for Service A?

So my car is due for service A (the glorified oil change). This will be the second service on my prepaid maintenance plan so I will use a dealer. When I called to make an appointment at the local dealer I've used since I bought the car, I was told this is a 'wait' service and it would take about 1.5 hours. I asked if I could just drop it off and take a loaner for the day and they said they don't do that for this service. While their lounge is pretty nice, I kind of look forward to the loaner to drive something else to compare. I could take a test drive but I loath wasting time with sales people.

Just to check, I called a brand new dealer that opened within the last year that is actually closer to my house. When I asked about a loaner, they said they normally don't but would since I was making an appointment well in advance. So I made the appointment with them. I bet thanks to karma they will stick me in some POS. Even so, I kind of like trying to the different cars without the ride along sales person.

Does anyone else typically get loaner for service A or do you wait?

I never wait, s they never start on the car straight away and i got work to do myself :-)

My dealer (marseille, France) always charges for a loaner
(50 eur/day, but it's paid by my lease co).

Though i recently got a "VIP card" from mercedes which also entitles me to a
free loaner. I feel very special now.

My dealer will give me a loaner for any service... including Service A.

It helps that I drive one hour each way to the dealer just to have it serviced where I bought it, partly because I like them better and partly because they did an incredible job from the first phone call I made to taking delivery of the car and I feel they deserve the business.

They may give me a loaner knowing I come from farther away and wanting to keep my business, so that may be different than your situation.

It's also worth mentioning my car is CPO.

My dealer provides a loaner if I book the service appointment well in advance.

When I had a Service A done a couple of years ago, and since it was only going to take a couple of hours, the sales department gave me a E250BT for an extended test drive till my car was ready.

Most of the time they provide the C250, B250 or CLA.

I expect it will be at no cost to me at least. I realize I could try to call a service advisor directly to check on the loaner at the first dealer, but it's not worth the hassle to me. The extended test drive is a good idea - at least you can select what you want to drive then.

That's how I play the game. "I want a loaner. When can I come in for service? "

Always get a loaner, but I also call in advance for an appointment and speak directly to a service advisor. This also permits the dealer to keep the car for longer period of time, so I guess it benefits them as well.

I get a loaner for any service. And if I need it they bring the loaner to me and pick up my car. But so does my Hyundai dealer when my Genesis is in for service.

Always get a loaner no matter what type of service being performed. But I bought the car from them also so I do not know if that matters.

For those who always get a loaner for the shorter services (like Service A), do you request it when making the appointment or when you drop it off? Or is it offered to you?

When I make the appointment they ask if I want a loaner

While you are at it, please carry your driver license and insurance card with you (just like renting a car). They will not give a loaner without those. You just don't want to be caught in that "oops" moment.

My dealer gives a loaner if you schedule it ahead of time so they can reserve a loaner for you. Regardless of the type of service, as long as the car is under warranty.
Once warranty is expired, you can get a "loaner" for $40/day, or if the repair is large enough $$$$ then they will waive that fee.

Only the first time they needed info for loaner. Did not have to supply info after that. Get free loaner as long as I own the car from the dealer I bought from. Loaners are MB from the dealer not an outside agent.

I didn't buy my car from the dealer I use for servicing yet I always get a loaner.
I don't think it matters since they make money from servicing your car.

It pays to get to know a couple SAs and try and deal with the same ones.

If you car is still under warranty any dealer should give you a loaner for free. It is when it is out of warranty that they do not have to give you a free loaner. Which is your car?

Yes. Even if they are out MB loaners, they will have one delivered from a rental agency. They pick up the tab.

I did get to know one the SA's when I was having my car inspected but they are hard to get in touch with sometimes. Last time I wanted to come in for service, that SA was out on vacation so they put me with someone else. Generally, they seem to push you to reception to make appointments.

I didn't buy mine from either of these dealers I contacted. However, both looked up my info to identify who I was and what car I had before I inquired about the loaner for service A. It's possible the first dealer I called saw from my profile that I didn't buy from them so I got the 'we don't do that' response. The second dealer is new to the area so they might be more accommodating to convert customers from the other dealer.

I am aware from a neighbor that they do the drop off loaner/pick up your car service here, but I have never been offered that nor have I asked for it. I'd expect that if they screwed something up and needed to take the car back, but not for a simple service A.

the newer dealer is who I would go with . You are probably right that they are looking for new customers and are willing to give you more. good luck

Mine is out of the original warranty but I have the extended warranty to 100K miles or 160K KM.

Thank god for that as a few months back my driver's door comfort access failed and was replaced under the extended warranty and a short while after a CEL caused by a faulty DEF sensor was also covered. If I didn't have the extended warranty those two repairs would have cost over $3,000.00!

I receive a loaner for anything, whether it's a bulb replacement.

Walk-ins, I usually receive a B250 or C250/C300.

When I book in advance, C350, E-Class or ML.
