2013 vs 2014 E550

Hi All,

I am starting to casually shop around for an e550 sport which I plan to purchase later in the year or early next year. I like the look of the 2014+ exterior refresh and find the interior to be aesthetically improved. However, I really do not like the ECO mode which I understand can not be permanently disabled! What do people think of the style differences? Is the ECO that much of a nuance?

Thanks

It's vey simple to disable the Eco mode when you start the car: press the button with the green LED !!!! How difficult is that ?????????? The Eco mode is not a nuisance at all. There are times when it is worthwhile and it does help to conserve fuel !

There is a lot more than just exterior/interior style differences between the 2010-2013 and the 2014-2016 versions of W212. The updated models include over 2000 new parts, a strengthened chassis, improved transmission, revised steering and Command system.

The Full LED lighting system is also an improvement over the previous bi-zenons. So too are the revised rear LED light clusters with their light pipes.

Since you are located in the 'Northeast', you might want to expand your hunt north of the Canadian border, where your dollar is worth about 37% more. Many American buyers are scooping up pre-owned luxury cars in Canada and exporting them to the USA. You could potentially save many thousands of dollars. Furthermore, you would have your pick of 2014-2016 E550s in Canada, where the E550 carried on for MY2015 and MY2016.

Check out this website for more information on importing a vehicle from Canada into the USA: www.ezbordercrossing.com

There are many US based auto brokers who are making a killing, buying MBs and BMWs in Canada, then re-selling them in the USA for large profits.

Some people hate the Eco mode others get over it quickly. I think the main differences is in appearance on the outside. Both models can come with almost any feature you'll need and power is the same. I wonder if you can get a big difference in price going for the 2013. That might sway you either way as well. Good luck.

Over 2000 new parts in the 2014 that's crazy...would have never guessed that. But I suppose there could be 100's in the front end refresh alone...

I can only speak for the E350, but I just got a 2014 E350 with the adaptive LED headlights and they are awesome! The updated look and those lights made the difference for me. i was contemplating the 2013 as well, but once I found a 2014 with the headlights I was sold.

The Eco button issue is only what you make it. Yeah you have to push a button and it doesn't do it anymore.

I had a 2016 E350 loaner the other day and as much as I don't like the look of the new grill, the headlights are amazing. It was like having a spotlight shooting ahead of you but not blinding anyone. As much as I love my Bi-Xenon with adaptive light package those LEDs are beastly.

The Eco button might be the most annoying thing ever...
