Should I get a tune
Hello everyone...I been thinking about getting a tune for my 2011 e550. Doing a road trip to LA so thinking about stopping at OE tuning. I searched the net and found a lot of good feedback for them. I had a Mustang that I tune with a handheld tuner, but when I dyno the car the tune was way off. So I am just nervous about not doing a dyno tune.

I think you'll be happy with their tuning. I used OE via the handheld and am very happy. Did not do a dyno but seat of the pants feel is well worth it!

If you don't have any other mods, and they have good reviews, then I would expect the off-the-shelf tune to be already refined for a stock vehicle. I think the tune for the non-turbo cars is pretty cheap in comparison to the tunes I've seen for the turbo cars that are about $1500 and up. But of course, you're not going to get the same returns as cranking up the boost would yield. I also saw someone recently raving about a TCU tune. So not sure if they do that too. I might worry that it would be hard on the transmission.

I don't think there is much gain to be had from a N/A V6. The best gains of "tuning" come from upping the turbo boost a little. The N/A 550s don't gain much, but turbo cars see dramatic gains. You might get some enjoyment from a TCM tune.
