Right side parking lights coming on

Last June my right side parking lights came on by themselves. Used light switch to turn them off. Did it again next day and turned them off again.
No problems until couple of days ago when they came on again. I had been in car and turned on electrical to use display to check mileage and MPG. Then turned off.
Few hours later, the right side parking lights were on. Turned switch to left and right and they went out. No problem since.
In December I asked dealer to check, but not sure they did. They were doing an A service and replacing the wood trim.
Never use switch and leave in on OFF. With DRL's enabled, it functions just like AUTO. Nov. 2009 build date,so switch is different from later models.
Plan to take car to dealer and discuss it. Any thoughts on what to ask them to do? Would a fault code show up something?
Thanks,

Thanks, but what is a SAM? How would the dealer test these or can they?

The SAM controls all kinds of functions. I had to replace the front SAM on my E500, due to a fault controlling the heater control valve. It was like $1,300.

I wonder if this would explain the cruise control not functioning after my hitting the resume about 100 miles into a trip and the locks not responding to the remote? The battery in the remote was good and it has worked fine since last June.

Is the SAM the same as the body control module?

Contacted the SA at the dealership. He says there is no way to test for faults stored in computer (or wherever) or to test the switch. Even if I took it in, they could not do anything other than stating no problem found on a repair order and that would not mean anything even though still under ELW.
Is this true that they cannot check for this problem?
I plan to take it in for annual service in Nov (still under ELW) and have them note it on the RO.
This still concens me, as well as the two times cruise failed to resume and one time locks failed to respond to remote-both almost a year ago.
Not interested in a 2017, but my experiences with a first year W212 would definitely turn me off the W213 for a year or two.
