Thoughts pls...

Trying to replace the Camshaft Adjuster Magnet on my sedan. Cant figure out how to unscrew the 3rd bolt. As you can see, my torx spanner wont fit. Any ideas or tool that i can use for this? Cheers!

looks like its a 3/8" or 1/2" drive your using. smaller drive or a universal drive wont do it either? some ratcheting wrenches have slim adapters that would fit a 1/4" drive socket on to it.

The 1/4 socket alone wont fit in the space and i reckon thats the smallest ratchet i have.

Its hard to see from the angle on the 1st photo, but the hose is not the problem, its the base where the hose connects mate, thats whats on the way.

I did further research and a 1/4 ring end offset wrench might do the trick. Just have to be very careful as i could easily round the bolt head.

Did you try a regular 1/4 box wrench, closed side (maybe a long one or have a second wrench "scissor" the open end of the 1/4 with its open end for more torque). I think I used a regular box wrench for the top part of the front coilover, for lack of a torx spanner like yours... just gotta be careful not to strip it. Not sure how tight that thing is on yours, though.

yeah mate, i had the "P0011 "A" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance Bank 1" error code 3 days ago. everything drives fine (knock on wood). no stalling, no jerking, no shaking on idle or any weird sound thats associated with this error code.

i deleted the code and hasnt appeared again. Konigstiger was kind enough to help me with the updated part # so yeah.

UPDATE: took a while before i got the parts. Thanks to Konigstiger he provided me with the updated part number for my engine.

Unfortunately, this error came up just yesterday and after deleting it, comes back on after around an hour of driving...i read somewhere that it could be a costly repair. Im hoping it didnt do any further damage and the new solenoids will fix it.

I used a 1/4 closed wrench (very important to use the close end and not the open end to prevent stripping the bolt head) on the hard to reach bolt.

Everything was done in less the 30 mins. Easy and quick fix. New solenoid on the right and old on the left.

Will report back if the error pops up again. Praying that it wont.
