undercarrage cleaning

I was polishing the car and I noticed that the undercarrage of the car has what looks like a cloth sound barrier on both sides that looks like felt. It has some streaks in it from salt. Does anyone know of a cleaner that would clean it without damaging it. I know I could just spray it black again but I would rather not. If it was plastic or rubber I could clean it easily but it is not. This material is also in the wheel wells. They also need to be cleaned. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I think the under carrage material is waterproof felt material. I use water and bush, you may want to take the wheels out for better deep cleaning.

Mine are both ripped up from flying debris on the highway and need to be replaced. They are pretty cheap, as they are really flimsy. I think it costs more to ship than to purchase.

Took wheels off and polished both sides that is how I found underside dirty

This is a good thread on what those underbody panels look like when off of the car. Yours may be slightly different, due to the year, but you get the idea. They are easily damaged and I think their main purpose is to reduce road noise. The felt in the wheel well masks rain water noise as well.

i ripped one side on a dip once. i was told it was for waterproofing and soundproofing as well.

last time i checked it wasnt as expensive but that was a couple of yrs ago iirc. pretty awesome to have i reckon especially if you live is salty areas.

That is really a wild looking sprayer. Never saw anything like it. I think when I get time I will take one side off and spray paint then with an epoxy paint or with an undercoat spray. Mine are not damaged just have some salt lines ion them. Thanks for showing this sprayer

Keith, a very easy to DIY replacement, took about 40 mins for the pass side. Dealer had them in stock, about $160 a side.
