car died

Happened twice in 3 days. Car starts fine, put it in reverse and it dies. Starts up fine and is ok. 2012 E350 gas, 33,000 miles. Car has been perfect since I got it in December until this. Any ideas?

So it only stalls in reverse? What about in drive?

Wow. When you said 'happened twice in 3 days', I thought it was an intermittent problem and it drove OK the rest of the time. So you can't get it out of the garage?

Is the CEL on? Have you pulled any codes?

I've had a rough idle issue in reverse on occasion that I haven't quite figured out. It happens less than 10% of the time in reverse and it is usually when I am reversing with more load on tranny (i.e. up a slight incline or with wheels turned sharply). But mine has never stalled.

Ok so it is intermittent. Problem with these kinds of problems is the dealer may not be able to replicate the problem and send you away. Are you still under the 4 year warranty? If so, it may be worth bringing in anyway. You don't have the 4matic, do you?

Do you notice any rough idling at other times? Anything unique about the incline or load on car when it does stall?

Was fine today, i noticed that I may need to let the RPM's settle for a bit. By the time I get my belt on it is fine. The warranty was up 2 months ago. 4 years 40k mile is **** poor for these cars.

Check with MB to see if they will offer goodwill assistance to have it checked/repaired since only 60 days you out of warranty http://mercedes-benz.custhelp.com/ especially if vehicle is regularly serviced by MB dealer.

Whenever I notice the rpms start to drop in reverse I usually slow if I can and when the car stops it recovers and is fine after that. Never had it stall though.

Wow that seems very odd for the age and miles on your car. I would definitely reach out to the dealer in hopes of some goodwill work or a tleast scanning and diagnosing it for free. That only is $300 at my dealer.
