Mirrors Tilt Down While In Reverse
I noticed something tonight which i hadn't caught onto yet, when i put the car into reverse the right side mirror tilts down but ONLY if it is selected on the touch pad. As, i was backing up into my garage i noticed that it did not tilt down and when i looked at the touch pad, the left mirror was selected not the right one. When I selected the right side mirror while still in reverse it began to tilt down. However, the driver side does not tilt down even when selected and adjusted accordingly.
So, i wanted to ask, is there a way to make the driver side mirror tilt down ? Or even better would be to have both mirrors tilt down when reverse is selected. Is this possible ?

As far as I know ONLY right side mirror tilts, and you cannot have the drive’s side mirror tilts.

I wondered myself why only the right side goes down but then again I don't really find myself needing the driver side mirror to tilt when in reverse.
There doesn't seem to be an available function to have both go down when in reverse.

Only the right side will tilt down. The mirror will remember it's place though if you modify it's position while tilted.
As far as I know it's a standard Mercedes feature. All of my MB's have had it with the exception of my 87 lol

Yep, right side only for me too. However, it does forget to tilt down now and then. Probably happens 1 out of 10 times but no mirror is selected in my case (i.e. led for left and right mirror is not lit up). Whenever it forgets to tilt when I shift into reserve, I just put it in park and then select the right mirror and then it remembers again what it's supposed to do. I really only need it for curb parking though.

If you buy a right hand drive car, the left mirror will tilt for you. Lol
Yes, Passenger side only tilts so you don't curb your wheels.

It used to be a standard feature on the W211, but in my year, they got rid of it even though it was still listed in manual. I guess the passenger motor ended up burning out too often so they stopped. Glad they brought it back hopefully they updated the motor so it doesn't easily burn out.

In occasions my drivers side has tilted in reverse when selected but if you notice it goes based proximity. Meaning when there's a curb.
Try it on a one way street parking on the left side.
Also when it tilts down you can move it around to your liking and it remembers that setting for the next time. So maybe put it on the left side throw it in reverse and then move it around.

No, that does not happen. It's the passenger side mirror only and the right mirror button must be depressed or it will not tilt. You must be day dreaming.

I seldomly need the driver side mirror to tilt down however i thought this might be a possibility because in my Lexus (which i traded in for the Benz) both mirrors tilted down. And no I'm not comparing Lexus to Mercedes, just stating a fact.
You do not have to put it into Park, while you are in Reverse just select the mirror and it will start tilting down.
I highly doubt this is true, but i cant knock it til i try it. I will report back.

I love this feature especially being that the back up camera on my car has no lines. I feel like the camera's calibration is off slightly when compared with my previous vehicles or my Murano. If you back up to a curb and use the cam you'll be on it unexpectedly early. I park my car on the street overnight so I appreciate that it has this feature.

anyways, OP, reason being is, when you park parallel to a curb, (3 point parking) you wanna see the curb on your right but still see the oncoming traffic if any on your left. vice versa on RHD MBs. you never (ideally) park facing opposite the flow of traffic anyways so you wont need the driver side to tilt.
now the lexus, id like to believe that MB does a more extensive research before they put anything to their cars. other lower end car makers just throw whatever and anything in their cars just to appeal to prospective buyers.

Do you think that does anything to the memory of the system?

Not sure why it would adjust down and not return. If you can adjust it back to normal manually, the motor must be fine.

Have the dealer check with SDS. Must be a signal code related issue, that hopefully can be reinstated.
