Speakers Melting

The part I don't understand is if there is also an amplifier issue, as the subwoofer itself could not make the sound on its own, its the amp that provides sound to the speaker. So MB Dealer's diagnosis doesn't make any sense.
I don't know what to replace. There are many parts at play. If I replace the subwoofer, then there's a chance of it still burning out as the amp could be the problem as well.
Anyone still stuck?

They changed amplifier and a loudspeaker as it says in the bill.
MB USA paid 20 percent of 3000+bill....It hurts ...
Had the same issue around 2 months ago. Passenger side front door tweeter started crackling, popping and smoking while I was driving. I had to immediately pull over and remove it as I thought it would result in a fire. I ordered a used speaker on ebay and put it in. It did not fix the issue. That one began to pop and heat up as well. Contacted local MBZ dealership and they said that extended warranty nor CPO warranty would cover repair. Decided to contact the dealership where I purchased the car (2014 E350) a little over 2 years ago as a CPO (they are 1.5 hours from my home) to see if I could appeal to them. They agreed to fix it as a "good will". In the end, they ended up saying that the CPO warranty covered it. I don't really care how they shuffled their paperwork to get it done. I'm just glad they did the right thing!! It ended up being the amplifier that they replaced, along with the affected tweeter. I believe the amplifier is the issue and the tweeter was only replaced because it was affected. So far so good a few weeks later.

Interesting, I was planning to spend almost $200 on a new subwoofer and now i'm not sure what the actual problem is, because if I do replace the subwoofer and the rear speaker, the amplifier will just blow the new speakers and cause a smoke hazard.
Anyone interested in starting a class-action lawsuit? This is clearly a defect.
I think listening at higher level caused the problem
I usually don’t crank it up. Some comments suggest replacing the speaker won’t solve the problem could be the amplifier. The rest of the speakers still work. the bad speaker will be disconnected tomorrow I can live without one speaker No problem, my worry is they will keep burning.
‘14 E350 ~62k. Any suggestions?

I removed the driver’s door panel this morning and there are 3 speakers. The 6.5” speaker works fine, the other midrange speaker is the bad one it smells burnt, looks like it burnt internally. No visible melting parts. The tweeter didn't work either But it passed the sniff test.
Just to verify that both speakers don’t work at all I removed the passengers side panel and swap speakers for testing purposes only.
The Driver’s side Tweeter only works on passenger side and the driver’s side mid range speaker didn't work either side.
I think the amplifier needs to be replaced it burnt one speaker and doesn’t Send any signal to one Tweeter. The amplifier is located in the trunk it is easily accessible. I can’t believe dealer charges $2k for troubleshoot and replacement.

Here’s the new subwoofer! Someone had an issue with their speaker at the MB dealer, and ended up being covered by MB, but the guy never came back to install it haha. So pretty good deal considering it’s new
Found out the right rear speaker was actually unplugged, previous owner had this issue and dealer I believe disconnected it.

Here is it now!
lol, I do not listen to Celine Dion, but it was the only CD and I couldn’t do Bluetooth audio at the same time while recording.

Just signed up on this forum to find answers as well. My 2014 E350 Coupe was purchased CPO with less than 4,000miles. Warranty expired October 2018. Last week sitting in car ..plastic smoke smell/ loud crackling popping sounds and toxic smell I turned and saw smoke rising just above the passenger side seat belt extender. The car was off all nav and sound off. I was just sitting in the car on a phone call.
I immediately drove to dealer who was 7 mins away and dropped car off with service advisor in Costa Mesa California. Called back said speaker was shorting.. ($400 parts and $600Labor) I asked him to have the technician check all the speakers and system for error codes. He calls back a few hours later to say that I was right..another speaker as well(see video)..New estimate ($400 parts and $1000labor) Right Rear Tweeter and Right Rear Woofer.
They would be kind enough to discount 15 percent with a coupon and suggested I reach out to the speaker manufacturer. I declined!
I bought the speakers from another dealer and had a qualified car stereo shop install. Once they were done, crackling sound AGAIN! Stereo guy says its the Amplifier,or should I say..the Control Module. This part alone (reconditioned) is $1500. I can not power up the car, the short starts as soon as the door is unlocked.
Does anyone have any ideas. My dealer seems to have told me to fend for myself unless I have deep pockets.
How can I get it to where I can at least use the car to drive? Is there a fuse I can pull? If so Where? Any options of not spending $1500 for a remanufactured Amplifier?
Thanks for any suggestions.
2014 E350 Coupe, currently 47,000 miles. AMG
Harmon / Kardon Sound
Can you tell me what the NEW part number is? If I were to buy one on EBAY I do not want to buy a used ( bad)one that may have the exact same problem, and burn out more speakers or cause a car fire!
If I were to go with an aftermarket amplifier what specs am I looking for?
I tried to pull the wire harness off the control module ( amplifier) and could not even figure out how to do that! Had some weird Purple latch on it (?)
Thank you
p.s. a MB dealer reconditioned amplifier/control module is $1500.00USD
