New to this

Hi all. I just bought a 2012 E550 sedan 4matic second hand (wrote off my 2012 c350 back in the fall RIP) Excited for the car. Just waiting on it getting shipped. I'm from Canada FYI. Couple questions if ya don't mind

Would 19 inch rims fit without affect sensors and things like that? looking for the AMG rims replica or equivelent

The navi, is there a way to update the maps?

Hopefully these aren't too stupid of questions to ask. Thanks again!

Yes no problems with fitting 19" wheels unless its a 4matic them just keep the front and rear wheels and tires the same size

Yes any MB dealer can do that for you

Another thing. I was thinking of removing the "blue efficiency" badges on the fenders. Order the biturbov8 badges and slap those on instead. Is this a simple thing to do? Anyone else do this. Would like some feedback. Please and thank you.

Hi and welcome,

I would not recommend purchasing the AMG replica wheels. I myself bought a set and was forced to sell them due to strong vibrations at highway speeds. They look great and the price is alluring however this was a case of too good to be true for me. I recently upgraded to rotary forged wheels and the vibrations are gone.

Removing badges is easy just use fishing line. Also if you want to run staggered wheels/tires instead of square make sure the overall diameter of the tires does not exceed .02. I am running Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position 255/35/19 285/30/19 with no issues.

Does your car equipped with airmatic suspension? (Forgot which year it became optional on W212 E550). The reason I'm asking, is because I know that above tire size does not fit the front of steel (non-airmatic) suspension.

MB built in a 1% (or 0.3" based on a typical 26" diameter of front 255/35-19 tire) front/rear tolerance for 4matics, so the rear diameter of both 25.7" and 25.8" are acceptable. Most manufacturers list 255/35-19 at 26" while 285/30-19 rear is mostly a split between 25.7" and 25.8" (OEM tires on E63 4matics - Contis 5P - are 26" front and 25.7" rear).

I am running 235/40/19 in the front, non air matic, with lowered suspension. As you can see, i still have about 3/4 inch clearance. So 245/40/19 might just work. I am going to try when my front tires wear out.

Yes amazing. I do not know why its the case with later models W212s, but on 2010, 2012 and 2014 (both E350 and non-airmatic E550, had all of them and still do '14 E550) 245/35-20 does not work, hence 245/40-19 (even though diameter is ".01 less - 26.8" for 20" and 26.7" for 19") should not as well. I know that 235/40-19 (26.4" diameter) works because 235/35-20 (26.5" diameter) worked on all five W212s I had/have. With 235/35-20 tire there was room maybe for a credit card. Many, many early W212s (there are many threads on the subject) 2010-2014 model years all tried 245/35-20 (same as 245/40-19) on non-airmatic cars, all unsuccessfully.

If you have that much room upfront as clearly seen in your picture, why didn't you use 245/40-19 upfront?

245 series tires are wider than 235, so to compensate for that, you need a lower offset to clear the strut. At least, that is my understanding of how to fit tires. Even though the outer diameter might be smaller, the sidewall sticks out enough to touch the strut.

When i upgraded from 17s to 19s, i knew the only way i would do it was to run a 40 series tire up front and 35 in the rear. After doing weeks of research and digging up pretty much every single thread about tire sizes on MB world, and i came to the conclusion that 26.5" was the biggest you could go up front. So i order a set of 235/40/19 and 265/35/19 tires. The diameters are 26.4" and 26.3" respectively. But you said that 245/35/20 is confirmed to not work so i am still a bit apprehensive about the 245/40/19 even though it is smaller by 0.1".

When these tires wear out, i am going to try 245/40/19 and 275/35/19 which are 26.7" and 26.6". However, my main concern is not the metal plate, i am more worried about the tires rubbing against the fenders because my car is pretty low. Also it is hard to tell from the photo but the tire is not directly under the plate, it is a bit to the side, and i believe if you use a about a 15mm spacer you will clear the plate altogether. I guess we will find out in about a year when my tires wear out lol.

Strut is not an issue. The metal plate, also know as perch, is. Diameter is the issue, not the width. Car can take even 265/35-19 (rounded shoulder tire preferred) upfront on a 9" wide wheel and about 40 offset on stock springs.

I tried 8.5" et30 (you can not go lower on W212), 245/35-20 tire was touching upper plate/perch. Someone here "modified" the plate/perch by hammering on it to fit 245/35-20 (that person never reported back to let us know exactly the effects).

My fronts wheels are 8.5" et32, so very similar to your setup besides being 19s. I might just stick with my current setup because it rides great and I am not rubbing, so why mess with a working application. When i turn the steering wheel all the way to the left or right , i cannot even stick 1 finger in between the gap of the tire and fender. So if 245/40/19 does work, it is going to be by literally a hair.

I personally would never hammer on the perch, i rather have stick with 17s then do that.

No i do not have air Matic suspension. To be honest the suspension is totally stock. The wheel offset is 10mm greater than factory spec and I would go any further than that!

I went 10mm wider offset than factory and regret it. If you EVER want to take it through a car wash again for convenience than stick to the factory 45mm when buying aftermarket wheels.
