is there a way to stop steering wheel adjust?

specifically to disable the steering wheel tilting up when you shut down and exit the car?

due to recent cold weather (-8 in the morning) the damn thing doesn't go down when i get into the car in the morning and i'd rather just disable it in the driving position so i don't feel like driving a semi with a horizontal wheel in the morning.

It is in the Operator's Manual. At some point someone enabled the easy entry/exit.
Incidentally this is a system which is known to fail. Mine failed while under warranty and took them three days to get it fixed and all the computer stuff straightened out.
Since I am only driver and not a problem for me, I disabled it. Never notice it anymore.
It appears though that your system has failed. If under warranty, get it fixed and make sure they give you a loaner.

Yeah take it in and get a loaner, this probably won't be a 15 minute job. This happened on my prior W212. They took it apart in order to install new parts, and mid way through it started working again - so they just put it back together. I disabled the feature and never used it again. Probably the type of system where the German fetish for complexity comes through - why use 8 parts when 20 will do? I've never enabled it on the current car.

Always has worked fine on my E63 and my Genesis and its been activated on both cars since 2010. I did not know about this being a feature that has a high failure rate.

I thought there was a gear that failed and the key seems to be that if you put your weight on the steering wheel while getting out and it's moving up, it breaks the gear as it's not really that strong. The gear only engages when it's moving so by disabling the option, you don't have to worry about breaking it.

Also a very common problem on Range Rover's. I had to replace a column on my old one. Failed for exactly that reason. The small latch that supports the wheel was ridiculously weak and made from a weak cast alloy.

I learned about it on this site and I think there may have been a TSB on it. I did not know mine had stopped working until I read a post here. Next time I was in my car I noticed the easy entry/exit no longer functioned.
The repair order says:
"Short Test performed," then "R&R of steering column," then "steering column and shaft removed, Replace."
Then sort of a summary "replaced steering column..and performed normalization of driver seat and steering column." I was told that one problem was that the computer in car had to be reprogrammed and after that the car's computer and the dealership's computer and the MBUSA computer could not communicate properly. That added a couple of days to get worked out.
The Best or Nothing
Get it fixed by dealer

How is this set up? Can I set it up so the seat moves back as well?
