I was unable to locate the Sirius satellite radio control module based on the above picture. Dealer stated this module needed to be replaced in order for satellite radio to start working. This picture shows the trunk, left side (drivers side in USA). As you can see, nothing is there. Vehicle 2016 E250 4-door 4matic. Any suggestions where it might be located?

2016 e250BT right, VIN? Datacard should list code 536 if not, vehicle is not equipped for Sirius.

Vehicle is equipped with Sirius, otherwise dealer would have called me stupid and sent me on my way. Thanks for the suggestion; I always try to find the simplest answer first as well. They did a diagnostic on the system and came up with code p060700. Diagnosis was “need Satellite radio receiver. This cost 214.50$ to figure out. Yes, dataMB.com shows code 536 on this vehicle. I would like to find the module. Any ideas where it is located?

Since reluctant to provide VIN I pulled a comparable vehicle, this model satellite receiver is located on right side - current part # is 222900301580 or shop 2229005011 used. Replacement should be covered under factory warranty if receiver is malfunctioning.

Ok, so it looks like it may be on the right side. My mistake regarding the vin. I thought you were requesting that I look it up myself to verify code 536 is equipped on the vehicle. The part number that the dealer gave me (222 900 30 15 80} is just what konigstiger mentioned. The service rep wouldn’t provide any printout with it on, instead wrote the part number on a post-it-note (which leads to my doubts) He showed that this module costs $1570.00. I will attempt to find the part, try to re-seat the connection and verify location and part number of original. Online the module sells for about 800$.

Found it! It is on the right side trunk area next to the fuses and below the right trunk hinge. Now to find out if it is plug and play or if it needs to be coded to the system. Warranty is long over with over 100,000 miles on it.

Should be plug & play. Any problems after install would only be addressed by having someone check for current software using MB Xentry (diagnostics).

It works! I purchased an identical part used from eBay for100$. I installed it tonight and everything is functioning perfectly. The replacement unit may even have a current subscription. I am disappointed that a 2016 model year vehicle would have a failure like this and that it would cost over 1500$ to fix from the dealer. I am happy that I saved 1400$. Thanks for all the help!

How to remove that module?

Thanks to your pic, I found it but how to remove it? Do I have to take off the entire side panel? I loosened the obvious visible screw but that didn't help. Thanks to anyone for any ideas.

I would like to know too. Mine says no service. It looks like it might be a chore to remove but I would rather do it myself if possible.

looks simple but...

On my Comfort V6 trim the satellite module is on opposite side (is on my driver side).
It's easily removed by bending the plastic side carpeting to reach fasteners.

I think it's on the fiber ring network. So you may need to bridge its optical fiber... [in <--> out] to bypass functions.

In addition there's something about the COMAND boot sequence being alted that needs to also get bypassed through engineering menu.

I have not faced any issue with my SAT module yet

That side panel is not overly difficult to remove, getting back in is a little more difficult. Maybe take the time to also remove wheel wells and get the shocks replaced......

Same problem here. I’m stumped. Were you able to remove the module? Did you have to remove the trunk liner?

Dealer confirmed a new unit is $2k. Don't want to take the chance a used unit from Ebay would work or not. Cheapest solution is to get an apple car play update. SiriusXM through the phone gives you more channels.
