W212 Steering Wheel Swap 4 Spoke Pre face Lift
Good day!
I know there are threads on this out there and I've done plenty research but I'm having trouble proving that what I'm wanting to do is possible without cutting or soldering.. (Something I just don't want to do in my new Mercedes)
This is what I have:
This is what I want:
As my 2012 was built in 2011 it came with the pre face lift steering wheel (4 Spoke) So from what I understand it's not an easy switch of just the contact plate.. Or is it? From what I read it's easy enough to replace, but buttons/horn aren't working.
My car has lane assist (Steering wheel vibration) and paddle shifters. So I will need to switch it with one that has that as well.
Has anybody done what I'm trying to do exactly? Is it overly complicated or is it just a matter of switching over components?
Thanks

Consider that MB also has heated wheel and vibration functions... well you really might have to change the clockspring and column too
Try watching this link I found on YouTube, it sounds easy enough (although this guy is pretty skilled, he is repairing an E63 wagon)

I don't know if this helps or not ...
Both of those wheels were available on the 2012 E class. I have a 2012 E550 that has the three-spoke flat-bottom wheel you want. I have lane assist and paddle shifters also.
While this doesn't tell us if the swap is easy, it just might be ...
Good luck with your research.

I've had so much conflicting information. My situation is difficult because I think for a very short time they had the 4 spoke on the 2012s and then half way switched to the 3 spoke. The 3 spoke is very simple to swap and the 4 spoke is much more complex. From what I've gathered the stalk behind the steering wheel needs to be swapped with a newer one. What I'm not sure of is if anything else is needed to make everything work properly. And what wheels are compatible.

I've switched steering wheels in my other cars, but the tricky part was matching the airbags and multifunction buttons

I currently have both vibration and heat, the wheel I was looking at purchasing I was told I could have vibration but no heat.
