problem with air con

this morning had my air con on ,set at 21c which is pleasant and warm and sent my car to the garage to have a few filters changed including air filter but since I have got the car back I have either hot or cold air with temp differences noticeable from 25 degrees c up to 28 degrees cent and the temp difference when set at 26degrees and changed up to 27degrees is huge ,now im driving an e 250 cdi be sport and to the best of my knowledge when set at 21 degrees it blows out air at 21 degrees c is this correct or is that the temp setting for the car inside ,I always thought it was the air coming out of the vents temperature setting and if so what could the garage have done to damage the air con please help

Basically how climate control works in vehicle is a 2 inputs coming from 2 sources of thermal (1 heater, 1 cooler (AC)) then join up into a Y and exit 1 vent. At the conjoining point at the point intersect there is a electronic flap that is controlled by user that adjusts the angle (more heat or more cool) and then there is a thermometer within the vehicle that tells it to stop blowing air once the desired temperature is reached. The air that is blown out is probably not what you set it at.

thanks for the reply but my problem is that whenever I turned on my ac at 22 it was always warm as in the air coming from the vents and after yesterday being at the garage now its cold air and only gets warm at 25 so any ideas what might be causing that all of a sudden to happen

There are two wires you disconnect to get to the air filter when removing the panel - one is for the footwell light and the other might be for something with the AC system - not sure at the moment. Worth checking that.

However, if you use manual control of fan speed and turn temp way up and get heat and way down and get cold, that's a good sign. Check that vents are open. Otherwise, you may be stuck taking it back to them or just getting used to the new setpoint.
