Rear shelf speaker replacement
One of the rear shelf speakers on my 2014 E550 is buzzing badly, so it's time to replace it. I've seen the threads that mention this is a rather big project. Looking at my copy of WIS, the first big step is removal of the rear seat backrests where there are two options: without rear individual seat design/without through-loading feature, and with rear individual seat design.
In the pictures, the "individual seat design" appears to be a backseat with room for two people and a permament center console. I don't have that. I have a standard 3-person pack seat with the through-loading feature. That combination doesn't seem to be covered in my WIS. Does anyone have the instructions for removal of the rear seat backrest which would make sense for mine?

I'm going to get the shelf out today, and then might need to leave it that way until I get replacement speakers. What do people use? OEM? Compatible aftermarket? I would rather not have to replace the amp and rewire speakers, but I can certainly change the ends of the speaker wires to fit whatever speakers are available.

Actually that whole thread seems to cover what I need to get to the speakers. Yanking the top two fasteners of the side bolsters wasn't too bad - just get the fingers back there and pull straight out on the fasteners themselves.

Your car is a 2014 model. Isn't it still under warranty?

No bumper-to-bumper. It had 52K miles with a powertrain warranty only when I bought it.
Meanwhile, I got to the offending speaker. It seems the small inner cone worked itself loose and was simply rattling around on top of the speaker (see attachment). I'm going to just take that part off since it clearly wasn't doing anything. If there are decent replacement speakers for these rears, I'll order a set. Any recommendations?
