Going to 20's....what tire setup?

I was hoping I may be able to get some advice from the forum on tire size for my 2012 E350 Sedan (Base). I'm currently looking at some Roderick RW2's in a 20x8.5 (45 Offset) Front & a 20x10 (50 Offset) Rear setup. I'm currently stumped on what my wheel specs should be. I want to do a Continental Extreme Contact Sport wheel. The website recommends 245/35/20 Fronts & 275/30/20 Rears.

Should I be concerned with rubbing on this setup? I keep reading a lot about rubbing with a 245/35 setup on different post.

I'm also looking at possibly a Michelin Pilot Sport 4s or Pirelli PZero in a 245/30/20 F / 275/30/20 setup as well. Was hoping some of you wheel/tire guru's could drop some of your insight on me so I can make the right choice on the tire size.

From experience. 245/35/20 will rub, go with 235/35/20. I have no rubbing issues even with my lowering setup.

Damn.....that looks really nice lowered.....I may have reconsider my not wanting to lower. lol! Want did you use to lower? What's you rear setup? Also.....in your opinion would 245/30/20 work? Thinking of going with the Michelin 4s in a 245/30/20F 275/30/20R setup......

I lowered with h&r springs. I used 245/30 and I hated them, bent rims, the side wall would burn up from cornering. It was a nightmare. Needed tires every 2 months

Yeah...I'm thinking that 245/30 is just too thin.....I'd feel better with 235/35. What is you rear setup? And thanks for the info on your springs. I may be tempted to lower once I get the wheels on & see how much of a gap I've got.

Ok.....going with a 20X8.5 (45 offset) 235/25/20 Front & 20X10 (50 offset) 275/30/20 Rear. Hope this setup works without rubbing issues & such. Anyone who objects please let me know & why. Thanks!

You won't rub. I'm running 20x9 +43 and 20x10.5 +40

I run 20x9” 245/30/20 front and 20x10.5” 275/30/20 rear. After I changed to longer springs on my coilovers I haven’t had it rub at this fitment.

Without fender work in the front I highly doubt it. At least not for the AMG and 550 due to larger brakes in the front.

There is a member here that is successfully running a 20x10 square setup on his pre facelift w212 e350 which is also lowered a lot (springs and modified spring perches I believe. Don't hold me to the specifics on that part). Looks really slick. His tires are pretty stretched though but if I recall he lives in Atlanta so perhaps the roads aren't too bad.

As for tire size, I'm running 20x9 with 245/35r20 from and 275/30r20 rear. I'm lowered. I DO rub a bit when I hit bigger bumps. It's annoying and I hate it, but I like it a lot better than consuming wheels like I was before running the 245/30r20 and 285/25r20 Pirelli Pzero Nero's.

Only E550 with airmatics (which all 2010 and 2011 E550s are) can fit (barely) 245/35-20 upfront. All "standard" E350s and E550s without airmatics (all 2012-2014 E550s had airmatic as an option and a great majority of them do not have airmatic fitted) can not be fitted with 245/35-20 upfront. Those with any W212 who switched to coilovers, can run 245/35-20 upfront.

Is it safe to assume that these 20" wheel specs will also work for a 2014 E550 cabrio?

Great info thanks guys. Is there a listed offset range that fits the W212? I have a 10 E550 Air/4Matic and have searched high and low for what fits the car.
