Yes, if you hit them with a baseball bat

I have never intentionally tried to collapse any W211 or W212 mirror. Good luck!

They will tilt on spring when something pushes them, but that was never design for frequent use and on older models the spring would break its mount at some point.
I am not testing that on W212

I must have a strange car then. I don't fold them regularly but when I do to get between cars in the garage it's not required excessive force. But worth knowing the general consensus I suppose.

2010 e550 p2
they do , but not automatically.
you have to manually do it , i usually do it with both hands , that way i get a better grip and it just feels safer than one hand. I dont do it on a daily basis , but once in a while. They seen pretty durable.

Is folding windows an option? My 2010 e550 automatically folds the side mirrors in with a button or when i lock the car.

Canada or Europe perhaps?

I fold the side view mirrors manually about once a week on my 2014 E350. Like others have said, I use a firm grip with two hands and the mechanism seems very durable. I think they were designed to be folded whenever necessary -- just not automatically every time the car is parked.

The automatic fold is a convenience feature and as such very nice. Originally designed for tight parking spots that, for example, European cities are full of. Here is U.S. parking is usually a lot more spacious but in some bigger city parking garages this feature may be very useful. Also when parking on road over night I would fold the mirrors manually as I don't have the automatic option but I have not needed to do that yet..
