Unhappy Rattling noise under acceleration

Hello everybody, I'm hoping you could help me diagnose an issue that i have with my 2012 E350 gasoline .

Under moderate acceleration I can hear a rattling noise coming from the engine bay for seconds when the car is under load between 1400-1800rpm .
The noise isn't present when i use the kick-down or accelerating at idle.

No error messages, engine and transmission serviced 2 months ago by the dealer.
We have lifted the car to look for any loosing part but couldn't find anything at least i know it only does it when the engine or transmission is hot enough
for example after 4 miles from home in the morning when going to work.

I have recorder the noise (Iphone in engine bay) her is link Audio file
Anyone have any ideas?
Thank you all for your time.

My car does the same thing. It almost sound like valve springs lifter. It only does that when the car is in higher gear and trying to go without down shifting.

You have touched it ! , I thought maybe the torque converter was bad but then it would affect the performance i think .
Hope someone will find what it is .

Dear, sorry for coming after almost 6 years, however I am facing the same issue with my w212 2014 and couldn't find out what is the source of this sound, have you reached a conclusion in yours?

Could be the hydraulic engine mounts
They are prone to failure
But this engine noise usually shows up as rough idle

Hello , my problem is still not solved , but i have noticed the noise only start once the engine reach working temp . Checked the gearbox temp 2 hours after parking and it was 65C* , my next test is to try to run the radiator fan at 50% speed while driving to confirm that it could be the issue . or it could be the electric fan itself .

I had this noise from time I bought. Replaced Trans mount, I couldn't believe how quiet this thing really is. Motor mounts measure okay, so all good now.

Hi Dear,

Any further update on your issue?

In my case, I have replaced the engine mounts and transmission mount. However, the issue still there.
