2012 e350 battery location?

When you open the hood it is located at the back left corner, or passanger side firewall (depending on how you are looking at it ). There is a plastic cover over it, it might even say battery but I'm not sure. I also have a '12 sedan and there is no trunk battery since mine is US model and doesn't have airmatic suspension.

The main battery is under the passenger side cowl as mentioned above. There is also an auxiliary battery in the dash on the driver's side. There are threads on here about replacing both of those batteries depending on which one your mechanic was talking about.

You can view the voltage in engineering mode. I tried it once just to see how the voltages adjusts while driving. Here is a link to how I got there. It may be slightly different on your 2012 versus my 2011. https://mbworld.org/forums/showpost....3&postcount=14

Thanks. I'm going to try this and see if mine charges better in sport mode than in economy mode. My '12 car is the same as yours fisch.
my car, I had to use the simultaneous press of call end button, # and 1 on the comand module to enter engineering mode. From there you go to 3.16 (select 3 first then scroll down to option 16) to see this (sorry for pic quality):

How old is the battery (main one, not the aux)? If original its probably due. You can have it checked at just about any auto parts store, they have a machine that will put a load on it and see how long it takes to drop its voltage. If you do need a new one, they are not cheap. IIRC its a group 49 which is on the larger size. I replaced mine earlier this year, got a deal at Pepboys of all places. They had a deal with 35 bucks off and had it in stock. But still its over a hundred. If you go to the dealer, be prepared to pay double or triple that.

I replaced mine last winter when I noticed it was cranking slower on some really cold days. It was obvious enough that it was on its way out and I didn't want to get stranded. New battery spun the starter way faster too. Date stamp on the old battery showed it to be about 4-5 years old. YMMV

I tried getting to 3.16 in engineering mode on my car, but screen 3 only goes to sub 7, and that is for audio/video. Are there 2 engineering modes in the 2012?
I'm just going to test voltage at the battery and then do a load test with battery disconnected so as not to harm any onboard electronics.

Battery voltage tested 12.2v resting. I'm going to disconnect it and charge it up in car using a good boat battery to save my in-car settings.
it is the original, so it looks like it is about time for a new one. Looking at the Exide edge L5/49/H9 battery (850 CCA).
