Renntech or Weistec?
Hi everyone! New to forums but I have a few serious questions.. I currently have a 14 E550 4Matic, I love the car! It drives great, good mpg for a V8 Bi-Turbo, styling is on point, interior is great but compared to the newer ones, a bit dated but livable. I’ve owned the car for 7 months now and it’s almost time to start the mods.
Questions:
Which tune is better, Renntech or Weistec?
What are some actual REAL numbers the car will make, hp+trq?
Can the M278 handle the power offered with a tune?
Will the tune affect the way the transmission shifts?(make it better I hope)
Aside from performance, where’s the best place to get aftermarket cosmetic upgrades for the 14 facelift W212’s? (carbon fiber hood and trunk, widebody) just curious..
I’d really appreciate the help, thank you!!

I see you've got the "can't keep it stock" bug. I live right around the corner from a tuner shop Eurocharged who have shown good results with their tuning, but I've decided that I don't really need more power because I rarely ever use everything it already has, which is really too much for any street. I'd rather keep it reliable and not risk it just because I have the bug to say I now have an extra 100hp that I still can't use in any real world driving.
As far as cosmetic, I think your car already looks pretty perfect,. If I had black, I might consider wasting some coin on some carbon fiber body accent pieces. I've had 19" wheels in my head forever, but I just don't want the ride to become any harsher and I can't make a decision on style of wheels anyway.

I have a dyno sheet from Eurocharged on my 2012, 396hp 478tq to all 4 wheels. Bone factory stock with 80k+ miles at the time. The car was underrated on paper to stop cannibalism from the AMG I suppose. You can search threads here to see that a simple tune will add around 100hp to that, which is really rediculous power in the real world.

Oh yeah 1st mod = put some dang tint on those windows! Nothing looks worse to me than a black car with a fish bowl on top. Tint shop is the first place I drive when I buy any car.

Those are some pretty good numbers for a stock car! I really am impressed with the way the car performs stock but yet the bug has definitely been attacking lol I honestly don’t mind keeping it bone stock but for some reason, this car just wants to be modded and I can’t help it lol I definitely need to change my suspension before adding any power because it just doesn’t look good sitting so high and it squats like I have a cow in the trunk on take offs lol The windows are tinted, the sun was doing its thing pretty good that day. Thanks for the stock numbers!! Really helped 👍🏼

Yeah, it is closer to 430HP stock than the 403HP as listed. Do you have a Designo interior? What color is it?

That’s awesome!! Yes it’s Designo interior in Orange. I fell in love with this color combo and completely dismissed the 13 E63 I was going to see next lol ended up buying the E550 right away!

Hi Lumi! Just wondering how you like the tune? Does the car shift quicker, throttle sharper and do you feel like the car can still use more power or are you happy with the results? Thanks in advance!!

[QUOTE=bob2011;7686887]I just deleted my resonator on my CLS, and it pops and crackles every now and then! While not the same car, we share the same underpinnings and engine lol.[/QUOTE
I deleted only the resonator at first as well, not gonna lie, sounded pretty good but after driving the car for a week, I got used to the sound and needed more lol after having the mufflers removed I realized how RESTRICTED the stock mufflers are!!! Lol The beast was awakened after that and I’ve been super happy since. (Definitely not recommended if you like your neighbors Lol 🏎💥💨😈
