Dim Headlight on 2011 E350 4matic Sedan
hi all
I have a 2011 E350 4matic sedan with about 90k miles on it.
I had the car for over two years and loved it.
There is only one concern, it's the headlight.
The one on the driver's side spread out instead of focus like the one on the passenger's side.
I can raise them up and down but not sure if I can change the focus.
Is it possible to change the focus?
Can I change the light bulb to something else brighter so I can see at night?
My car has HID white light.
I tried to upload the pictures but it won't let me do it.
Thanks for your help.

Headlight Dimming
Hi, there... are your headlights Bi-Xenon?
if so, you’re looking at an expensive bulb replacement which my MB Mechanic says takes months to burn in to other bulb’s spread,

Maybe someone changed the bulb on you. Bixenons should be pretty bright. There's all sorts of aftermarket halogen lights that are brighter and are different colors. If you have the bixenons, then you would have the headlamp washers in front of the headlights. You should also have auto high beams. There's also a sticker under the hood warning of high voltage. The lights also do a little dance when they turn on, they point low, then go up/down and left/right, that's the auto level. There's lots of fake xenon bulbs out there, the fake ones are dimmer and fade quicker. I think I still have the originals on mine. You can put the vin into a vin decoder and see if you have bixenons or halogen.

I put the VIN in the decoder and the result came up with "HEATED SCREEN WASH SYSTEM".
Is that the bixenons you are talking about?
I can adjust it up and down.
Can you tell me how to adjust it left to right?
Thanks.

You're right.
I don't see any 608 or 615 code listed in the decoder.
I'm looking around and there are a lot.. i meant a lot of LED H7 Light bulb and they are cheap .. approximate $20 for a pair with 2 years warranty.
Are those LED light bulbs ok?
Even Ebay lists them for only $16.99.

I'm not really sure if those LED bulbs are designed for halogen projectors. I would just stick to halogen bulbs. Stock on the Bixenons were 4300k for color temperature. Those higher color temperatures tend to be too white/blue and blinding.

hi cetialpha5
What do you mean too white and blinding?
You meant blind the incoming traffic or blinding as can't see the road.
I will look for 4300k color.
Thanks.

It's both, blinding to oncoming traffic and blinding that you can't see long range.
Too white actually affects visibility. I'm not sure about those LED replacement lights if they're really designed for halogen projectors or not. Usually when people try to put xenons into halogen projectors, while it may appear brighter, because it doesn't focus the light properly, the short range light appears brighter, but long range vision actually decreases. And because it doesn't focus the light properly, it scatters the beam making it blinding for oncoming traffic. That's why I would just stick with brighter halogen bulbs.
