How to remove stock rear diffuser?

Hi all, I bought the RW carbon AMG rear diffuser to replace my stock one and fit the AMG quad tips. I see to remove the stock rear diffuser there are 2 bolts holding the bracket on and on each end in the back are what appears to be tapping screws, do I just drill these out and order new tapping screws to use or can I use rivets? What are your experiences with this? The videos on youtube are of c204's and they claim there are T20 screws on each end which is not the case on the W212 E550.

Will I need a special tool to tap the new OEM tapping screws in?

Happy 4th everyone!!!

I had to remove the bumper to remove the diffuser. I don't recall having to remove those rivets, they might be attached to something else that's attached to the bumper anyway.

Once you removed the rear bumper, you were able to pull the diffuser out of it with no issues and fit the new one on? That sounds like so much more work, I thought the rear diffuser was able to be pulled down on its own but I guess if this is the only way then I will have to do it that way.

Once the bumper is off its really easy to remove and replace the diffuser. You can basically just pull out the bumper, a bunch of tabs hold it in place. Helps if you have more than one person though.

Cool, I will possibly attempt this with a buddy this weekend. I will attack it this way if no one else has any input. Did you also have the RW carbon diffuser or a different branded one?

If it's the one that's hollow and flimsy and seems to be made of fiberglass but looks like carbon fiber on the visible side then yeah I have the same one.

Well I was able to get it replaced by removing that rear bumper. Luckily my local MB dealer had those rivets I was mentioning that holds the diffuser (1 on each side) Since I had the replacements I was able to drill them out and then replace them to install the new one. Muffler delete and AMG tips next week!

I have a 2014 E550. Is there any way of installing the diffuser without opening the bumper? it seems like A LOT of work to do for something so small.
