Best 3 year Pre-Paid Maint prices...

With 40K miles B service coming up, local dealers are quoting/charging around $800 just for that one B service.
So a 3 year/pack Pre-Paid Maint package may make sense, esp for B/A/B.
Anyone have contacts to the best pricing avail...?
Thanks,

Try some of the vendors mentioned in the extended warranty subforum. There's not much of a discount on the pre-paid plans, but some dealers mark up the costs of the plans so it still might be cheaper going through the vendors mentioned in the last few pages of the thread.

https://mbworld.org/forums/extended-...-warranty.html

I believe you can buy it til you hit 80k. Not sure about your E400, but there's usually something like transmission fluid at 70k so it might be worth it to get a 4 pack and then maybe just a 3 pack at 80/90/100k.

Talk it over with your Service Advisor. Mine mentioned that he "thinks" that for the E400 a spark plug change may be called for at 50K miles, which certainly makes prepaid maintenance attractive.

I'll be choosing either the 2-visit or the 3-visit at my next service.

Just got a quote back from my dealer:
2yr/20,000 miles: $1,250
3yr/30,000 miles: $1,750

Can't say that this is a good deal.

Anyone has a better deal...?

Hello,
Please share the email address for the point of contact you had.
Thanks.

I've replaced the spark plugs at 60k miles on my 2014 4matic.
I'm nearing 80k in few months (currently at 75k).

Tafel quoted 1530$+ taxes for a 3-pack PPM.
Is that worth it to pay for it or wait for the seasonal offers like 550$ for Service B usually these dealers put and use 150 off of 300 for Service A.?

Usually the dealers don't include spark plugs or transmission fluid changes when you go in for regular Service B, those are extra charges. But they're included in pre-paid maintenance so that's why the package is a good deal at the right mileage.

Yes, if can find an indy workshop, and tell the dealer to kiss you ****.....unless it's something warranty related.....

The indy shop I use has a link in my sig if you want to get an example of better prices, better service....all for the same parts, done by master techs that were tired of being ****e on at the dealers.

Maybe I am wrong, but from what I know - MB dealers offer such good benefits and technicians get paid by the job, that none of them will quit steady, well paid job to work long hours in his own shop for less.
Meaning the only MB technician that works as indy is the one who got fired?

I certainly see what you're saying...but I've spoken to all the techs there, and unless they're liars.....which they could be they all left the dealer to come to the indy for a better life.

That is true, but there is also some "Self-employment" phobia. I've been self-employed 90% of my life and had the disputes with my friends several times.
Being excelent craftsman gives about 25% what it takes to succeed in own business. You have to be good manager, good bookkeeper and good salesman to really make good money.
The best comment I found in those years:
"why would you keep steady job for company, making $2000 in 40 hr weeks, when you can open your own business and work 90 hr weeks for 1/2 of that.?"
But anyway, former employee, who learn his skills working for former employer and now is bad mouthing them - never makes good impression.

There are no taxes on service contracts in Texas.

Since A Service at 50K miles is just oil change,
but maybe the 40K & 60K B Services involves much more than standard B Service?
That's why I inquired about the Pre-Paid maint from the dealer...

If you received an owners manual and service booklet......that would tell you what is done at each service.

The Mercedes-Benz Prepaid Maintenance Coverage Chart shows what is required/included in the PPM at each service interval: Mercedes-Benz Prepaid Maintenance Coverage

Looking at the chart, I plan to purchase PPM to cover my 40k, 50k and 60k service intervals due to the additional maintenance items. Especially the normally costly spark plug replacement at 50k.

So I am due for my 40K service soon, and the cheapest PPM quote I have received so far is $1750 (incl taxes). This would cover the 40/50/60K services. I don't know if I could the same services (listed in the PPM coverage chart from @Longroof) done cheaper at a local independent shop.

Any ideas?

I get the same prices for a B-A-B PPM ($1750) and a B-A PPM ($1250) at various local dealers and from Jeff Jackson at Tafel Motors, who offers significantly discounted deals on warranty contracts. He says there's only a $100 margin on these PPM contracts, so they can't really be discounted any more than these MBUSA list prices. The B-A makes sense for me because I'm looking at $1250 just for my 60,000 B service alone, which includes an expensive spark plug change (~$650) for my vehicle, if I want to do it at a dealer.

Just pulled the trigger and got the 3-pack PPM. Currently at 78k miles on the clock. After the windshield replacement, I'll take it for the service. 1750 from Jereko.
Tafel - Jeff quoted the same, but he mentioned Taxes I guess.

Anyway, silly question,
can I use my 3-pack for 80k, 100k and 120k intervals and do the 90k, 110k out of pocket?
Just checking, so, I can plan accordingly. I'll get the Service-A using the 150 off of 300 or more coupons or similar for Spring and Fall cleaning.

You can ask the dealer but in past threads they pretty much all said that you had to see them all in order. Check the expiration date, even if they let you, it might expire before you hit that mileage. Otherwise people would just use them for the B service all the time.

just my 2cents.
Just picked up my vehicle after done with my 80k miles service, which actually costs $810 : B- service,
A-Service costs somewhere around 350$
Again at 100k, which I can't promise rates won't change - will cost around $850

I paid $1750 for this package. Being over optimistic, and assuming we will get 150$ off of 300$ or more coupons in future, it'll cost around the same range. I would say not to stress on this package, may be I might be wrong.

As I said above, I found the same prices for a B-A PPM of $1250 from Jeff Jackson at Tafel Motors, who sells warranty contracts at a significant discount, and from my dealer. Foolishly, however, I forgot about state and local sales tax and bought it from my dealer. There would have been no sales tax from Jeff. There was $105 in state and county sales tax in New York (8.375%). Kicking myself.

Still, the package was about the same price as just the 60,000 mile B service alone on my 2013 E350, which includes an expensive spark plug change for us non-DIY-ers.

While Jereko from fletcher-jones didn't charge for taxes, if you have spark plugs in the service, you should definitely get the service pack. Next spark plugs would be at 120k where the PPMs are not available at that time.
Other than that, I believe we are not saving much of the money here.
