2017 e300 wheel protection worth it?
Just bought a Mercedes-Benz e 300 2017 cpo. Is it worth to have a wheel protection?
Dealership is offering for 2200 for 4 years with unlimited replacements for wheel bends, flat tires, tires breakage

Had a few flats, bent wheels and cracked rims, don't think I've spent anywhere near $2000 in the last 5 years on those. A new set of tires is probably about $800-$900, the rims I got were in the $100-$200 range. Your newer rims are probably more money as the newer the car, the higher the cost of the rim. The local shop around here will fix a bent rim for around $115 a wheel. If it was cracked, it was an additional $60 to get it welded. Last time I had a cracked one, I was able to buy a new rims for $150. Costco usually has the best deal on tires, they usually do $150 off Michelin tires with cheap installation and those come with a 5 year road hazard warranty. I'd just save the $2200. If you can look at the back of the rim, you can get the MB part number and do a search on eBay to see how much the rim goes for.

Thanks for the reply!
That makes lot of sense. But I had a CLA before and had 2 broken tires in 6 months. they cost about 600 bucks. So I am kind of tempted to buy this protection
I had continental conti pro. Since I bought them individually they cost me about 240 to 300$. New Jersey roads are pretty bad too :/
Btw, the carfax report on my car showed 2 tire replacements and a wheel replacement.

Dealer tire/rim insurance is a rip off. In the southwest, Discount/Americas Tire will sell you a tire warranty for tires on a newly purchased car for about $100 for the set. Other tire stores may also do it. Bent rims are already covered under your auto insurance road hazard and your deductable may not even apply in that instance. Curb rash repair generally runs $76=$125 per rim.
Also a note: Tire insurance will only pay for the one effected tire. If you have a 4matic with some tire wear, you will either have to get the new tire shaved to the tread depth of the other tires or buy 3 more tires because the tires must be within 2/32 of each other in tread depth. If you have RWD you will have the same concern for the rear tires.

It's funny how some will complain about paying $2,200 for an additional 2 years of CPO with unlimited miles and others will pay the same money just to insure against damaging a wheel/tire.....

hmm. after some research I found that each wheel costs about
400 - 500 for new wheel
300 - 370 for refurbished
New tires cost about 240 - 270 coz these are runflats
I can probably easily switch to regular tires which cost about 500 - 600 for the entire set. Regular tires do have lot of benefits over runflats (less noise, better thread life). I might have to carry a spare in case of emergency. Also, worried about wheel(expensive!) damage on regular tires.

What wheels you have to start with?
When 18" wheels installed on W212 sport models are prone to bending, the Czech-made AMG rims do spontaneous cracking, in which case the insurance can be very good deal.
Than if you like to rub your wheels against the curbs, you won't survive without insurance.

thanks for the quick response. I have 18" twin spoke wheels(not amg).
I did rub my wheels against curb on my old CLA. In north jersey most places have parallel parking so the damage might be inevitable. CLA was my first car with no sensor technology.
current 2017 E300 has 360 sensors. still don't think they can alert for smaller curbs.
