Annoying fan noise from AC Vent

Since the cold weather started, I have continuous annoying noise coming from the AC vent. The noise is on most of the time, but it goes away for a moment when I steer the steering wheel and then come backs on again. When I turn the AC completely off including the fan, the noise goes away. If I only turn the AC off, the noise continues so I'm thinking it is the fan/blower that's making this sound. The noise almost goes away when the fan is on lowest setting and increases when I turn it higher. The noise is primarily coming from the far right passenger side vent.

Is there ANYTHING I can do to fix it? Hoping that I don't have to get the whole dash taken out to address this issue.

Check the blower for possible dirt on the blades.
How many miles? When those blowers last for very long time, they are not officially serviceable and when you have a problem with it - you need to buy new one.

I had mine replaced under warranty @ 36,000 miles. There are multiple thread topics on how to clean and/or replace, it doesn't look too difficult.

This thread seems very informative. I'm not too mechanically inclined, but will try to see if I can follow the directions to clean or replace it. Thanks!

If it sounds like crickets having a party in your dash, just replace the blower. $48 for a blower on Ebay and 3 screws up under the passenger side of the dash. It should take 10 minutes. I need to do mine, I'm just too cheap and lazy. It does seem to come back when the weather gets colder, comes and goes sometimes.

You have to plan this ahead, as shipping from ChengDu will take few days and in case that would be sea shipment - 5 weeks.
I order small part from China and tracking shows as follow
ChengDu to San Francisco 2 days
San Francisco to Las Vegas 5 days.
Go figure.

Good call, didn't see it was from China, just one of the first I pulled up, many similar listings. Rockauto.com has one listed for $45 + ship

To clarify, this is the fan for the HVAC?

When I adjust fan speed, this spins more or less?

Just checking. Thanks and happy holidays!

Technically it is blower, but yes, adjusting speed on AC control should make hearable difference.

I just replaced my blower motor yesterday. In my case, it was not making any noise. The motor would intermittently stop working randomly. I hooked up my SDS and got a code for blower motor failure and possibly voltage regulator. I first replaced the voltage regulator because the motor was not making any noises and that seemed logical. Turns out the motor was bad after all. Not a big job once you understand how the connectors come loose. On the cover under the glove box, there are 3 torx screws to remove then wiggle the cover down. There is what looks like a temp sensor on the left which you twist to the right and a light bulb socket on the right side which you also twist to remove then out comes the cover. You then have access to the motor. Remove the connector to the voltage regulator then there is a connector clipped to the side of the motor. Unhook and separate the male half of the connector plug then reach in with a small screwdriver and release the pawl lock and slide the connector female off of the motor, One zip tie to cut loose then all the wiring is clear. Look straight up, you will see a tab that must be pulled down slightly to allow the motor to twist clockwise to release then down and out. Put the motor on the bench and remove zip tie lug from the old motor and re-attach to the new motor. Reverse instructions and reinstall.

I decided to buy a direct replacement OEM motor made by Behr. I was able to find one for $121 form AutohausAZ. See attached pictures which shows that the original motor was a Behr. The price for the blower motor from MB is $348 list.

Anyway good luck,

Bob
