2014 E350 oil filter for DIY

Does anyone have a recommendation of the best Oil filter I can use if I decide to do the oil change myself.. I bought an Oil extractor so I can suck the old oil out. I plan on doing all the oil changes myself now that the warranty is up. I also bought a power bleeder for draining the brakes. I plan on keeping myself busy over the summer. I am also looking at buying a power lift so I do not have to jack the car up. If anyone has suggestions on that I would also be interested. Thanks

You are good with any of the top brands (Mann, Mahle, etc.). Go to Rockauto and buy several. Since you are going to get a lift you might consider getting transmission filter, gasket and bolts, air filter cabin filter, brake fluid, transmission fluid, etc. Remember spark plugs are due at 60k too. Saves on shipping costs.
I have a Quicklift which raises the entire car about 18-20 inches, more than enough room to use transmission fluid change, great for brakes, suspension and tire rotation. 5000lb capacity, I use it for all our vehicles. Plus it can be stored when not in use.

Thanks for the info. Car is over 6 years old and only has 12,000. As long as I own the car it will never reach 60,000 miles. The lift I am looking for would allow me to stand under it.. getting to old to lay on my back under the car. Will look into the Mann filter. Thanks.

Mahle is the filter you want. Superior to the Mann or Hengst or others. If you compare them it will be obvious. Even more obvious when changing out after 10K miles. Mahle is what the dealer uses and what came stock from the factory.

I did all the work on my c230k for 15+ years. I've had the Pela oil extractor for most of those 15 years and it still works great. Also have the Motive power bleeder. I do not put brake fluid in the Motive when changing brake fluid, I just keep topping off the brake fluid reservoir. It's a pain, but I use it for multiple cars and don't want to cross contaminate different brake fluids. I would soooooooo love to have a lift. I'm jealous!!!!!!!

I use genuine Mercedes filter from FCPEuro. One time ~$22, lifetime warranty. I’ve changed my oil 3 times already and the last two times costed me practically nothing (cost of return shipping if used parts). Every 10k miles I change the oil, oil filter, engine air filter, cabin air filter, and wiper blades. All Mercedes parts, for only the cost of return shipping. Costs me about $50 for shipping everything back. So every service of all the above costs me $50. Cheap overkill maintenance

You mean you return the used old parts back to FCPEuro ? Is it some kind of warranty they give on oil filters and air filters? I never heard of anything like that. Please explain in more detail.

Yes, you should check them out. They have lifetime warranty on everything, including wear and tear items like wiper blades, filters, even used oil! Brake pad and rotors. Best thing is that it’s not brand specific. So I buy OEM brand if they have it. You just have to send back the old parts. There isn’t a catch and I feel like I am robbing them
I don’t know how it’s sustainable for them business-wise but they’ve been doing this over 10 years now? Guessing they are betting on people not taking advantage of it as much, due to hassle of shipping old parts back? Either that or that most people don’t keep their cars as long.

checked out site and I guess I will be buying from them. I could not believe it and the prices are about the same as if you bought on ebay. Wow Thanks for the info.

You’re welcome! I was a skeptic at first too, but 6 years buying parts from them, not a single issue. Wish they had parts for my Lexus too

Yes, I buy from them too. I'm only one state over so I basically get stuff in two days so it's like Amazon Prime for me. One good thing is that they tend to stock the good parts, rockauto carries lots of stuff, the good and the cheap. I got my brakes from them, you can find lifetime warranty on brake pads but not on rotors. But I like the Akebono for pads and they only offer a 30 day warranty so it's good to get both from them. For alternators though, the local stores were cheaper and there's no shipping for the core and pretty much everyone offers lifetime warranty on an alternator.

There's lots of cheap lifts from China, they seem to be in the 2-4k range.

I believe the plugs are both time and mileage required? Isn't it 6 years or 60,000?

I wouldn't attempt the trans fluid on my own.

I need to update: while I did indeed use Mahle on my c230, it looks like the Mann is the OEM filter for that car. I did try Mahle, Mann and Hengst filters and the Mahle seemed to be superior and is what I stuck with. Looks like Purflux is the OEM filter for the E350. FCPEuro is a great site, have ordered lots of stuff from them in the past. Have no idea how they can lifetime warranty wear items such as filters/brake pads/etc but I know they do and read about people getting replacement parts with no issue.

I've done the tranny fluid/filter change on all the family cars for years. It's not really that bad, albeit a bit messy. Simple tranny fluid change is no worse that an oil change.

Even on a car like the W212 where there is no dipstick tube?

Now you have me wondering - is there an oil dipstick on the E350?

yes because the dealers suck out the oil and they have to do it on dip stick

The 722.9 7G transmissions do not have trans dipstick tubes AFAIK.
