2014 e550: too old to purchase?
Hello guys. I’m debating picking up a 2014 e550. It’s low mileage at 20k miles and it from an MB dealer. Obviously not a CPO due to it’s age. car is price at 30k.
wanted to ask your thoughts on whether the price seems right and if I should have worries about it not being warrantied in any way.

seems pricey for 6 year old car...
check online used car resellers and NADA and all them other pricing sites to see if it is FARE price or not.
Then check online for part costs should you need to do maintenance - pads, rotors, oil change stuff etc etc

I hear you but I really like the v8 and the power on this and the new ones are around 50k-55k for a 450.
Was planning on buying that one next year as a 18-19 CPO. Currently have an e350 4matic sport 2011 with 93k miles. I drive a lot and plan to keep the 550 until 100k miles if I buy it.
torn between gettting it for 4-5 years and driving the hell out of it or hystrix waiting for a e450 next year CPO

KBB.com fair market value with those miles is between $26K to $30K. Depending on options if you could get it for $25-$26K range in my eyes I would pay that for a one owner, 20K mile 2014 E550. Especially if it had the options I was Interested in.

Post the VIN so we can see what options are on it. If loaded with options, $26-$30K is very fair. These 550 4M cars are amazing in every way. I have 60K now and if you don’t buy it let us know where it is so we can go buy it. They are extremely rare.

I’m going into my 3rd and final year of CPO and never used it. These are rock solid.

The only option I want that’s missing is the Keyless go option....
34,917 out the door, delivered to my house. . (My sales tax rate is 10.25%!) 20,522 miles.

I negotiated with the salesman. I’m getting it CPO’d extended for three years, unlimited miles, zero deductible for just under 35k out the door included all taxes and licenses and shipped to me from another state.

no keyless go? bruh
204 had two variants. the first batch made had the rear headrest button down button, wood trim carried through the climate control area, and instrument cluster, the second batch just had black trim around those areas, thinner/slim badging for E550/E350 and a better crash rating.
in my opinion, i think it’s a bit expensive, given the age. check the date code on the tires and check the rotors if they’re warped.
make sure the burl walnut wood trim isn’t faded or starting to fade. The car doesn’t have the intelligent light system as well. if i were car shopping. i’d just avoid this car all together.

Can’t help you without a VIN. I thought every E550 came with keyless go. HK stereo is standard. If it doesn’t have driver assist package with Distronic, 360 camera, full LED lighting, I would pass.
my car listed for $80K, so I think this one is stripped.

Here is the link to the car. It doesn't seem to be a very well optioned car for a E550. You are getting the CPO for 3 years and the car looks to be well taken care of, but you should get some very detailed pictures of the interior especially the burl walnut trim because that has a tendency to fade and I'm not sure the CPO will cover that.

Battery will probably need to be replaced soon
Spark Plugs as well
and so on. Overall, too expensive given the options on the car.

This car is unfortunately the wrong kind of unicorn. I would pass. There are those who will say “yeah, but less electronics to go bad”. I buy Mercedes for all of that stuff. If I want a stripped car, I buy Hondas. This is not a good deal.

You guys gave me a lot to think about. What compels me about this car is the mileage and the condition being good enough to be CPO’d. I wasn’t planning on buying this car to be honest as I was just killing time looking on Autotrader since I wanted one of these and almost bought one a couple years ago.
My initial plan was to buy a 2019 E450 sport package with Premium package and Pano roof sometime in 2020.
that said, with the low mileage and condition, getting the V8TT seemed too good to pass up. pano roof is a big plus. And that power train...love the engine! My current E doesn’t have the fancy gadgets and it doesn’t bother me. It’s still mint and drives well and I still love the look. Just the power is so low.
My other car is a fully loaded 2020 GLE with every option, step rails, AMG rims and package, etc... this is my daily that I commute with and thought buying a 27K (34 after taxes, fees, and CPO) was too good a deal to pass up and quite literally the lowest I’ve spend on a car in 17 years. Felt proud of myself for being financially smart for once in my life.
so should I pass and stick to plan A and wait until 2021 for a CPO E450....or should I try to knock a bit more off this price?
last question, is the basic lighting package really that bad?
