Question 2014-2016 Auxilliary Battery COVER?

While searching for Auxilliary Battery change videos, I found one for a 2014 E350 Diesel. It appears this car has an auxilliary battery cover over the location that houses the battery. (to the right of the Ad-Blue tank).

Panel Spare Tire Well - Mercedes-Benz (212-690-58-41)

My question... Is this a "accessory" found only on Blue-tec models, or do some of you non-diesel guys have this cover, too?

It has to be diesel-related as those don't have spare wheel, only DEF tank in the trunk.
Once you put spare wheel, there is no space for big cover.
I am pissed with the design, who leaves no space for spare and I have to carry one on top. Looking at the DEF tank, it would not take much to reshape it and make donut wheel fitting on top. That is what MB did in older SL, where full size spare was going over hydraulic unit for top.
I think MB engineers put too much faith in run flat tires, who to my knowledge are not used in Germany.

Well, I think there just might be enough space for that cover with the compact spare in place beside it.

Not saying I want this cover, except to acknowledge that it looks nice, has a nifty tool tray recess, and solves the debate on whether the battery can be covered or not. If MB goes to all the trouble to make a cover, then covering the battery should not be an issue.

The battery venting tube goes down thru the floor.
Now if you are really motivated, I can sell you mine.
I seldom go there to start with and the tray has no use for me.
Diesel also have foam trays for tools on driver side with space for adding more. Do you have that one?

What car is that? Doesn't look like my W212 in any respect. There is no Prefuse box like that in my ride, for example.

Well, on my 2016, that red wire (and electrical box) doesn't exist. Instead, I have a mount for a temp spare tire.

I wondered if my car was missing that cover - so your 2016 doesn't have it, either?

No. My gas powered W212 has the normal, round tool caddy that screws in place through the spare tire to hold it in place. I say normal, because my 2001 MB has the same round tool caddy. Holds scissors jack, jack tool, tire block, spare fuses, lugbolt kit, fuse diagrams, and other useful tools. I've added several other small tools items, like a professional tire gauge, etc.

No, it doesn't. As I mentioned earlier, there seem to be more wires and tubes smothering the battery than battery. When I'm in the trunk, I try to avoid being in this area -- or placing any metal tools, there -- for fear of disrupting/shorting something as items shift around while driving. The (diesel) cover would put all the spaghetti out of reach.

Wonderful, thanks, as always.

I looked this up. Mercedes sells this part for $65-$80 retail, plus shipping, of course. Not a bad price, but it's a gamble unless I know it will fit between the spare tire and the Aux. battery section. To me it looks like it might fit, but I'm not sure.

However, there is so much variance between models, this experiment might be better served if I call around to the used parts yards in my area.

It's a bulky item, and shipping might cost too much if I bought it from kajtek1, only to find it may not fit.
