front turn signal not working

I have a 2015 E350 and the right front turn signal that is integrated with the headlight assembly either comes on part way (some LED light up) or not on at all. The warning message comes on. My question. What is the most likely cause? How do your replace the turn signal LED light string that is in the headlight?

So you have the factory lighting package, if I understand you correctly?

If so, the only resolution is to replace the entire headlight assembly.

W212 2011

first put the headlight on a furnace with 180 degree make sure you remove all 3 blots and all metallic pieces

after that disassemble the lights and replace the turn light

i had the same issue but on my w212 after that make sure that you assemble the headlight with high quality silicone without acid

this is the led signal

that I would have to replace the whole assembly for just a turn signal problem.

I mean, that depends on exactly how good you are working with this stuff. Sure you potentially dissect the entire assembly and maybe be able to repair this unit, but maybe not. The diodes are not serviceable.

Good news it that you should be able to pick up one used online or potentially even a new one at a discount - they are manufactured by Hella for Mercedes, so if you see a Hella branded one that is the same as OEM*

*potentially it will not say "Mercedes-Benz" inside the light.

thanks LILIEBNZ230 for the tip. I will keep a look out for the Hella branded assembly. very disappointing a bad turn signal is going to run $800-1000.

Yeah, it sucks. Technically these units should last the lifetime of the car.. I don't see too many problems reported here with these. Just unlucky.

Thanks this is very helpful. I was hoping not to have to take the bumper off but not so lucky. I am going to take it to MB to confirm it is the headlight and not the controller module. I will update the post when I find out.

UPDATE: brought the car to MB they pulled error codes B223900, B285711, B285811, B286011. Which is error for each of the lights. The blinker and parking light is out. I know i have moisture and that will have to be fixed (thanks LLIBENZ230), but I am think that maybe it is just a module given all the light error codes.
Question for Konigstiger: which module would throw those error codes 2228700789 or 2189007306?

Leaning towards control unit 2189007306, MB should have suggested repair solution along with providing codes. If replaced, may require initial startup using Xentry (MB diagnostics).

MB would only give me a $900 to replace the light control module but refused to give me the part number.

Hey, I had a similar issue with my Mercedes a while back, one of the front turn signals would flicker or not come on at all, and I kept getting the warning on the dash. On these newer cars, the turn signals aren’t just bulbs, they’re part of an LED string inside the headlight, controlled by a small module. Sometimes it’s just a loose connection, but other times the LED strip or the control module itself can fail. While looking for solutions online, I came across this LED control unit: https://xenons4u.co.uk/a2059006805-l...trol-unit.html. I’m not 100% sure it will fit a 2015 E350, so definitely check compatibility first. As for replacing the turn signal LED string itself, unfortunately, you can’t just swap a single LED like a normal bulb. You have to:
  1. Remove the headlight assembly from the car (usually by opening the hood and unbolting a few screws).
  2. Disconnect the wiring and control module carefully.
  3. Replace the LED strip or the entire module inside the headlight. Some people even end up replacing the whole headlight if the LED strip isn’t sold separately.
  4. Reconnect everything and test before fully reassembling.
It’s a bit more involved than a regular bulb change, but knowing about the control module and LED strip helps you understand why these issues happen and what parts to check.

It turned out to be the control module.
