2014 LED Headlight upgrade

I've always loved the Full LED option headlights on the W212. However, my Benz came with the halogen high beams with LED low beams. And even more unfortunate, we cannot change out the Halogen Highbeams to LED's in these headlights.

I've found these DEPO headlights on USR but they're out of stock unfortunately.

Is there an alternative that anyone may know of? I want something plug and play, that I do not have to reprogram. Thanks!

You’ll get the best light output by remaining stock. The upgrades that look like the real lighting package do not perform like it.

Easy Peasy White light (plug-n-play) replacements for the standard High Beams here...

Philips Diamond Vision H7s...
https://www.amazon.com/Philips-Diamond-Vision-Halogen-Bulbs/dp/B007JZKBVW/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=philips+diamond+vision+high+beams&qid=1587726712&sr=8-4 https://www.amazon.com/Philips-Diamond-Vision-Halogen-Bulbs/dp/B007JZKBVW/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=philips+diamond+vision+high+beams&qid=1587726712&sr=8-4

Plus, you don't have to look at those gaudy, overwrought, double eyebrow DRL chevrons of the Full LED package. Proof positive there's a solution for every automotive taste. (Sorry for my opinion, I guess)

You can also replace the halogens with actual LEDs plug-ins if you look around. But I worried about the heat these appear to generate (they have huge heat sink appendages in the back), so I tried these and they have the desired look, instead

There's a long thread on the forum somewhere about these DEPO full LED headlights. Many ended up returning them due to some kind of "light-out" error.

Sweet! So you have the Phillops H7's in your high beams? It's just plug and play no errors?

I don't think Parktronic is rare at all in the US.

I have one car with Parktronic and one with the lighting package, mine is 2013 so Xenons, Like both but I put the Phillis lightbulbs in the 12 and love the Parktronic, if I had to choose, I'd pick parktronic. But the cornering lamps, turning headlights and auto high beam is really nice. Honestly I think I get better high beams with the four H7's than just tilting the xenons up for high beams.

I have lighting but no parktronic. Not sure if I'd find parktronic that useful, but definitely enjoy the adaptive LEDs

Me too, maybe it's a midwest thing, just like if you want a 2wd you need to go to Florida or Texas, I don't think I've seen a 2wd in Cleveland in 10 years. I also have the winter package so heated steering wheel and headlight washers, my S classes all had a switch for the washers, the E just works every fifth time I use the washers for the windshield with the headlights on.

Right? Unfortunately I have it on the wrong car, my 12 is an elegance with 485 suspension and 17" wheels so sits whole inch higher and doesn't usually get stuck on parking bumpers, my 13 is the sport with ground effects and 18" wheels, the front bottom of the bumper is an inch and a half lower than the 12, My wife learned this the hard way. Our last two S-classes when she did this you could just hit the "rise" button and drive off! Miss that feature. But, the parktronic has saved both of us numerous times in many ways, and parallel parking is unbelievably cool. All yo do is shift from forward to reverse, the car finds the spot and parks itself. Also works on head in parking, Turn signal on switches it from searching on the right to the left.

My car has both Parktronic and the lighting package. I have used the parktronic but not all that often. Actually I utilize the LED parking sensor displays more because I have the tighter parking in the garage, my wife gets the good spot. If I had to choose one or the other it would definitely be the lighting package. I live in an area with a lot of unlit dark roads and find the lighting more beneficial for me.

How is the output of the high beams? Does it look the same as the halogens (Not talking about the color, but the actual scattering of the light).

They appear to put out more light than the standard halogens and they cover the same downrange high beam pattern. I'm not a headlight **** like others here, but I feel the low beams are the best lighting I've had in any car, and the H7s aimed in the high bulb mounts just add to the light coverage when needed.

Try them, For $23 they will be a very cheap experiment.

I can attest to the standard static LED low beams being great on the W212. The lighting package is an improvement in terms of high beam and curve illumination, but has a funky and unpleasing to look at low-beam pattern.

I should note that my 2018 MX-5 Miata has adaptive, auto hi/lo beam, bi-LED projectors that perform just as well or better as either W212 option, so the idea that the lighting package is something grand is wrong.

I do a lot of highway miles, and I would love the LED's just because of the active hi/lo beam feature as I HATE turning off and on the high beams every time a car comes my way. I have a 2014 E350 in Europe with the full LED package that I get to drive a couple of times a year and love the active hi/low beam feature.

Buying the H7 "white" Phillips off of Amazon right now.

I wanted to go with the LED's as they're usually brighter, but worried about fitment and the light pattern they would produce because of the high beam mirror/housing.

I tried the Depo lights and I can attest to the fact that they are crap. The optics are horrible and within a day I had one headlight that would not turn on and the other would not turn off. They went back immediately.

I retrofitted the OEM ILS LED headlights but it's still a work in progress. Right now they are working but I have an error code. I haven't been able to get it fixed because no one will touch it during the stay-at-home orders.

What I can tell you about going full OEM is that if you are looking for the automatic high beam/low beam function, your car needs to be equipped with the "multifunction stereo camera" on the windshield. If your car did not come with factory ILS or distronic, you probably don't have it. If you want to add it, you need to source the camera along with the cable and the windshield designated for it. It gets expensive really quick - even without the windshield replacement, it's quite an expensive project as it is.

Here's a link to the DIY I've been working on: ILS Retrofit Just keep in mind that the project is not complete so I would recommend further research before jumping in.
