The battery size can wary between country/climate of destination as well as different options. That said, nothing wrong with putting bigger battery as long as it fits.
I have 2 of W212 with "smart" charging and both have cheap flooded batteries in them. Working 2 and 4 years just fine. https://www.pepboys.com/bosch-premiu...7%203.0L%20Dsl
I bought the 2nd one putting my 2007 E on the net order, to override stupid software. 2 years ago the battery cost like $110 and had 96 months warranty. Times change.

The H6 is the correct battery. But an H8 will also fit. When I bought my E350, the battery was in poor condition, so I replaced it. At the time, Pep Boys was running a 25% off sale on their batteries. The H8 was the same price as the H6, but with increased capacity, so I put it in. The H8 fits like it is made for the car. The only disadvantage is, it takes some muscle to lift that size of battery into place.

The Bosch seems to be out of stock. Bosch is made by Exide which is considered worse than JCI. The Champion AGM battery that Pepboys also carries is a JCI battery. There's also a $40 rebate on the AGM battery on top of the 25% off that they're always running. The H6 and H8 are the same price at $149 after the 25% off and with the $40 rebate, it's $110. Not too bad. Varta was the OEM battery from Mercedes, but JCI made the Varta batteries also.

Comparing the brands. When I picked up new Bosch, the solar tester read 1300 CA on 1000 rated battery.
Just couple days ago I bought 2 Interstates for my Ford truck. Both tested below 1100 CA on 1000 batteries.

The mentioned Bosch battery, being 2 years of age still scored 1250 CA for its 1000 rating.
Other batteries after few years of use routinely score about 80% of their ratings.

I think this would be a very poor choice. Keep in mind that to achieve the 800 amps, your battery must be fully charged, 12.6, 12.7 volts, and Mercedes doesn't keep the battery that high. I recently checked mine and one time it was 12.1, and another it was 12.3.Your 615 CCA may only be 400 CCA by the time the voltage is adjusted.

I have a group 49 battery in all 3 of my mercs
Better reserve (160) and 900-1000 CCA...
When i need my next new one - I plan to go with a Odyssey 49-950, I have them in my Seadoos and Searay and they are still strong 10 years later!
Good luck with your choices!

Does anybody know if Pepboys still sell the Bosch batteries? I only see the brand "Champion" on their website now and nothing Bosch. Is there any other brands of batteries that is recommended? Costco does not carry the interstate batteries in my area for the W212..

The Champion is the better battery. There's a reason they got rid of the Bosch. That was an Exide battery and they're considered the worst of the 3 battery makers. Champion is JCI or was before JCI sold their battery division. East Penn is good too, but you don't see them that often, mostly either Exide or JCI. Interstate is just a distributor and they can be either Exide or JCI. Autozone and Advance Auto also carry the JCI battery, check retailmenot.com for latest discount codes, one may be cheaper than the other. The Champion used to be the best deal when Pepboys had their rebate on it, but I think they got rid of that unless it's back for Black Friday.

I just went to Pep Boys for my 2014 E350 Wagon. The clerk did recommend the H8 but it turns out it wouldn't fit in the wagon! Ended up with the H7 Champion. My battery wasn't totally dead but I had to keep it on the trickle charger in the cold weather and didn't want to wait until I was stranded!
