Thinking of getting new rims
Hello everyone,
Currently driving a 2016 E350 4matic with 17s and thinking of moving up to 18s.
Not really a fan of the stock rims. Looking for suggestions.
Thanks

I have the 17 inch rims with the 245/45 tires and I still ended up with 2 bent rims. On my W211 which came with 18 inch rims, not only did I end up with 2 bent rims, I also had 3 cracked ones.
Stick with the 17 and get tires with a road hazard warranty. I didn't mention all the flats I've had between the two cars.

On my 18s I am on my 19th bent rim in 3 years and have, twice, bought complete sets of four wheels. NINETEEN. I got a set of "semi-forged" rims thinking they'd be stronger and 2 were bent within 2 weeks. Stick with the 17s. The only thing that helped me was getting larger tires, which rub but I haven't had a bent rim in 5 months.
Knock on wood.

The Michelin Sport A/S 3+ is pretty popular. I haven't had as many flats with them lately. They're XL so they have a higher load rating than some other tires. Some claim the higher load rating makes it feel like a truck, but it's also stronger so less likely to blow out a tire. They're $174 now each at Costco, but they usually run some kind of sale every other month and their current one is going to expire Sunday so they will probably have a sale on it next week. Usually it's something like $70 off plus $40 off installation. Usually pretty hard to beat because they include a free 5 year road hazard warranty with free balancing/rotation.
I think you are referring to the Ultra High performance Michelin Pilot Sport All season 4? That one just came out and I don't think it's in the size you need. Maybe next year when the come out with more sizes.
