Water leak from overhead console 13' E550 Sedan

Original windscreen, getting drops of water when accelerating (from the lmap light covers and or switches. The trim is dry). Both front drains are clear and pass water. My attention span yielded a 45 minute search, but i did not find any info. Any thoughts?

Thank you in advance. This just started happening within the past 4 weeks. Primarily after a rain, car parked.

@Dane500 How does the exterior moonroof seal look? Also there have been reports of leaking moonroof troughs/hoses in the X/W164 vehicles.

The seal looks dry. No cracks. I scored it with steel wool and treated the rubber. Cleaned the front half of the roof pocket and deflector. We have another storm tonight so we will see how it goes.

Will do. The leak is back. I have also found its dependent on how my car is pitched when parked. Slightly downhill, leaks. Slightly uphill no leak.

Looks like the water is being 'funneled' from the mirror trim to the console. Nothing directly above console is wet.

Mine did the same thing, but not consistently, and I only get drops down the inside of the windshield when parked slightly downhill. That only thing I've found that helps is, when you have the sunroof open(slid back) and you close it, make sure you close the sunroof, tilt sunroof up to open at the rear then tilt back to closed position. Since performing this "ritual" I don't have any issues now unless it rains really hard. Hopefully this helps you.

I thought about this issue for a long time actually. When driving the car on the freeway one day, I had the roof open when I made the entrance ramp. It was getting pretty noisy at speed, so I closed the roof. I could hear the turbulent air at the back of the roof and got the idea to tilt open/closed the roof to see if it made a difference, and what a difference it made. Almost all the air noise stopped. Something in my head clicked in relation to the water leak and now I do this every time I open the roof. I believe the seal is just in need of replacing and the tilt trick is helping for now, probably won't forever...

Good luck!
