Racechip XLR or Pedal Commander?
Racechip XLR or Pedal Commander?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for a little more responsiveness from my 2011 E550. With that in mind I’ve been considering either the racechip XLR throttle tuner or the Pedal Commander. Can anyone speak on their experience with them or give a recommendation?
Thanks for any help in advance!
Alan

when I was younger and stupider, I modded the throttles on a few cars to be 'more aggressive', and regretted it when driving in traffic. the things I did really didn't add any more high end horses, they just made the throttle more aggressive at the low end, which just made it harder to drive smoothly at low speeds.
It's an interesting subject , there can be some ignorance unfortunately , it's only though people who don't understand something , nothing new there .
I've researched it and have a decent understanding and the crack is to achieve an old school 1:1 drive by cable relationship with the throttle plate .
There was nothing wrong with this arrangement but like the old mechanical handbrake the boffins like to mess .
A car with a drive by wire throttle lag delay has the best results .
One without and the gas pedal may become too sensitive , but given good foot modulation and the range of settings I still find this difficult to comprehend.
The controller and wiring for both products is meaty to say the least but with the original inventors product the dimensions are miniscule and can be disregarded completely with a last setting memorised for a completely stealth install .

Cost $300 for me many years ago. Probably still close the same. I had it in my 2011 E350 and have in my current 2010 E550. It has plenty of settings including OFF that disabled it and car drives like it was never installed.
It has Green range 1-9 and more aggressive Red range 1-9. I have mine on Red-3. I feel higher is too aggressive.
Best money you can spend on the car.
Just checked. Sprint Booster is $289.99 so they lowered pricing by $10 since I got mine.

Get the Sprint Booster. Installs between the gas pedal and harness to it. Super easy job and will definitely change how the car feels to drive. Takes care of that “Granny mode” the car learns and adapts to.

I keep trying to understand/imagine the benefit here. How is it any different from just slamming down the gas? Perhaps it would attempt to address the fact that when I step on the gas hard I feel like there's a split second before the car actually acknowledges my request unless I brake boost a bit?
Keep asking...perhaps others have better options...
