Physically broken and/or not working?

Code U0103 indicates "lack of communication with the electronic selector lever, module has a malfunction"

Does the column shifter work? Does the down-select paddle work? How about the other buttons on the steering wheel, multi-function and horn.

Any other codes? The paddle shifter is part of the steering wheel, IIRC and I believe the electronic selector lever module is part of the steering column module. Hmmm...

everything works besides the upshift paddle. Previously it was broken the up shift paddle and i replaced it with the same part number

curious if it was broken from previous owner pulling too far because of another issue causing it to not register? Possibly a module/shifter issue that needs to be addressed as well?

I can't speak from experience with this specific issue... but my first step would be looking at live data, probably thru the steering column module, and verifying whether the module "sees" input from the paddle. I might try clearing the code and retrying the live data exercise.

Then proceed from there.
