2015 E400 4matic blower motor won't turn off when running.

Hey guys, I got a 2015 E400 w212 with roughly 66k miles and my climate control is starting to act weird on me.

All my functions work, heat and ac but it doesn't sync as fast as it used to be. Bit laggy?

Biggest problem is it cannot be turned off when the car is running. Although it's off with the light indication the blower motor still runs. When I turn the car off and lock the car, the blower will run for a min or two and will shut off.

Already attempted to replaces replaces blower motor resistor with a FCP euro part but still doing it.. I got a new blower motor coming in this week because I heard a bad one could malfunction like that too? Besides it being dead. Please help. Last thing I could think of is the climate control face, but how can I take that off? It doesn't have the taps where I take off ontop like previous w212 e350 ones.

Thanks

DC the battery and ground out the negative cable. Let it die for a few min and reconnect. If that doesn't work, next thing I would do is look for an HVAC reset. It's going to be some combo of button presses/holds or something. That's all I got.

Yeah I already tried disconnecting the battery on both posts for a good 30mins. I will try to look into that. Don't have much info on e400s these days still.

Might have to take it to the dealer in two weeks if can't figure this out. Never really take my cars there unless I'm running out of ideas. Thanks

Yup, not really worth speculating on a forum with a Benz. You wanna troubleshoot and do your own work, you need a capable scanner.

Yeah, I do have some cheap 300 dollars scanner with live data, I will have to scan to see what's wrong although it doesn't show any check engine lights atm, hopefully ca. Atleast detect when the "off" mode is online or not.

Just wanted to see if anyone encountered this problem before, that was my goal for this post. Mainly a bmw guy here. Weird how 60k miles mercedes already having these kind of problems. Will try the hvac reset tomorrow.

these cars have about 40 or 50 different control units, generic ODBC-II scanners only see the basic engine diagnostics related to pollution controls. you need a mercedes specific scanner that can talk to all the different canbus networks to get the big picture. there's like 6 or 8 different networks between the various computers.

AC Evap drying cycle...

could it be the HVAC control module drying moisture from your AC evaporator coil...? Have you tried AC:OFF with Heat set to 68?

If you can manually control blower speed (good power MOSFET) the controller logic is involved in keeping the blower going, right?

Scanning your car modules will help point you to problem areas. CEL is mostly triggered for serious emissions faults, not HVAC service.

I've noticed when A/C is ON and then you turn it off [A/C]... it takes a while for the the air to warm up and its not immediate. Having the blower stay ON would make sense for drying out the evap... then again, I haven't noticed this behavior on our earlier W212s.

Just tried that. Still acting up. Now when I hit the off it will turn the heater motor off while driving. but when you turn turn car off, it will still try to turn on and then off very low for couple seconds then finally turn itself off.

Already scheduled at mercedes this Thursday see what the real problem is. Seems something electrical instead of mechanical. Already tried a new blower motor resistor and fan from fcpeuro.

Someone with Xentry should be able to diagnose and verify whether the climate control unit is commanding this behavior or not. Then go from there...
