I don't believe W212 firmware updates come OTA. 🤣
Map traffic data comes through XM satellite
and mBrace through 4G cellular network.
As far as seeking a dealer update your frozen screen looks like a candidate for $200 service.
There are reported problems with Bluetooth and adressbook sync issues.

When you plug in a diagnostic tool into the car and access the NTG HU5 unit, it shows that on the screen. Its been that way for decades. What's plugged into your oBD port? I have heard of modules like the Progressive snapshot tool causing these kind of issues.

I guess there is no way to navigate screen menus to initiate a "settings reset". Have you tried to ODB scan the unit and reset it from within scanner menus?
If that does not do the trick... then the module may need to get worked on internally or replaced.

Do you have any media in the unit? Say
1 - CD/DVD -> Eject to see if it works
2 - Memory card --> Take it out
3 - Anything connected in the port (within the center armrest console?
Once there is nothing in the unit, press the ON button until both of the following happens
1 - The system shuts down and you can hear the hard drive click, and turn itself off
2 - The system stays off for a bit, and then you should get the "Mercedes Benz" or "AMG" displayed on the screen
The above is a computer shutoff/forced restart procedure like a desktop/laptop computer.. Fingers crossed because that estimate hurts.

Does this car have the “Hang Up - 1 - #” entry to the hidden menu? You might be able to do a better RESET there if this menu is available for you.
