Parts Vendors, other questions- New owner intro.
I think I will be on here regularly as it was very educational to read up on various issues prior to my purchase.
I just bought a 2014 Lunar Blue E550 sedan and drove it halfway across the country to get home. In that long trip, I got to see how amazing this car is at traveling long distances. I don't think I could have made that trip in many cars- 12 hours is a fair bit more than you're supposed to drive in one day, even with breaks.
So I have a short punch list of items I need to look into that came up on PPI, and need some recommendations on the best parts vendors for genuine MB parts that I can't get at FCP Euro. Not to sound like a commercial, but FCP has saved me a fair bit of money with their lifetime guarantee on my Volvo.
I need floor mats- car came with some weird mats that don't fit and are clearly not the right ones. Carpeted and all-weather- I think I'd like to use the carpeted in nice weather. Probably get the all-weather first, though. I don't like the Weathertech mats because they're very plasticky and if you get something like Armor-All on them, they become as slick as ice.
Thanks for the help.

I don't use any 'protectant' on my interior surfaces, they all just make the surfaces slick and greasy. I'll use something like 303 *cleaner* on interior surfaces if they get really dirty, otherwise just wipe with a damp cloth., and I'll use 303 Aerospace Protectant on exterior rubber (but these cars don't have any to speak of). I don't like putting anything on my tires, either.
real leather seats, I treat with Lexol, or Leatherique. I don't use any sprays, I use the liquid, and apply it to the cloth I use to rub it in.

oh, they have two kinds. I have *these* floor mats which are thick soft rubber, its the floor liners that are more plastic.

the floor liners are probably better for snow country. where I live, beach sand is the biggest concern

Great car and the best color! IMHO. What color is your interior? I would hold out for the stock rubber mats. you can find them for sale used and in good shape most of the time.

Greetings! I came from an 04 XC90 myself, so continuing business at FCP was a no-brainer. Once you I have the part number of whatever I'm looking for, I shop it around on Google and eBay to see who has the best price. This link is a pretty good reference for where to shop it around.
Post some pics of your new ride! I bought my E350 from several states away too, it was a great way to get to know the car.

The OEM rubber weather mats are the best looking in my opinion. They work very well too.

Do you have the OE mats with the hexagons or the newer design? I had the OE mats with the hexagons in my old C300- the only bad thing about them is that the car wash guys wore out the mounting fixture by constantly taking them off- I will have to tell them not to remove the mats, because that is annoying to fix and the hexagon mats are discontinued.
