Hello all, new to Mercedes' so thanks in advance for any help. I have an E350 and the passenger seat will not move forward or backwards. The motor is engaging but making one hell of a racket without moving the seat. Up and down, and the headrest are working fine. Anyone got any ideas?
Driver side seat switch to move forward/backward no longer works, however i hear clicking when trying to move it front/back. That same switch works perfectly when trying to move the seat base up/down.
In addition, seat back and head rest both work normally using the other door switches (3 switches, one for head rest, seat back and seat base - shaped like the seat)
Based on your own account, your issue sounds located in the seat controller alone. Not a problem with control buttons or seat mechanicals traveling sideways.
Realize that seats are parts of car safety system. During a collision, front seats are moved at high speed to counter balance G-forces very effectively. So you want seat to be in repaired order.
I've been purposely rear-ended by a junkie... the smart driver seat in combination with ESP effectively saved my bacon 1st class.
> Options to consider:
-- You can confirm these suspicion using your compatible scanner look at seat module.
-- You can crack open the seat module for compromised solders on circuit board - (Seat is not a solderless module).
-- You can book a visit at you local MB specialist to work on seat unit.
-- You can try to swap module with new/used unit. I believe this module does not requires coding...
>> CAUTION / ACHTUNG! : YLW AIRBAG CONNECTORS are married with seat unit... simply disconnect batteries for personal safety.
Is the "seat module" is separate from all the individual motors? I figured it would be one of the motors that needs to be changed. Unles you are implying the seat controller encomapss's these motors - im not too familair
Any chance you have access to part #'s? @konigstiger
I called my local MB, they said i might need to replace my "seat track" which is $3800+tax CAD....yikes
Local mechanic suggested finding a replacement seat as its a lot of labour to take the seat apart, then have parts to test/try while its out etc. problem is hard to find a used seat.

You can remove the seat controller in less than 15mn from under each front seat, including disconnecting batteries. This is the module that sends power to each of the seat motors based on commands from busy CANBus-B, reported working well.
At this point, I was under the impression it is not mechanical but module related - Your call.
Hopefully who gets to work on this issue won't first replace the $3800 parts before looking at the li'le controller module.
I might remove the bottom seat cushion, its only four bolts, plus two for the storage unit box if you have that, then you can see if it's the track or motor? Oh, one plug for the heated seats.
I'm cheating a little bit. I bought an A207 a couple of months ago. The passenger seat starts moving when pressing the button, but it feels like it's stuck on the left-hand rail. It moves a little but, but the right-hand side moves as intended, so the seat ends up slightly angled (which can't be good). I don't see any obstructions, so trying to take the seat out, but the seat is too far back at the moment, so I can't get to the left-hand rear mounting bolt (still talking about the passenger seat), so not sure how well it will come out.
I am trying to work out how the mechanism actually works. Because I can't take the seat out, it's a bit challenging to find out what exactly happens when the button is pressed. Any hypotheses what might have gone wrong?
Posting here on the hope that the seat mechanism is the same as on the W212...

Thank you
the front seats move front to back over two parallel rails. A single electric motor is used to move both sides at once using a stranded cable across to spin the opposite side in unity.
Based on your description that's the mechanism requiring service and parts.
I can bet the cable side got stuck in glue in what used to a light grease lubricant. Don't just replace the part without greasing the root cause after cleaning sticky mess.
Take a guess about driver seat... use it as your reference.
A good question you'll come across is about the normalization procedure of motor stops - (I dono )

Take the seat cushion out and clean the tracks test it for operation with seat bottom removed, might be something stuck or old gluey grease on rails.

That happened in my dad's car . The front passenger seat was not moving all the way down which drove me nuts and it turned out to be a nut that would cause that issue (pun intended)
my driver seat has started to get clunky at 55kMi while stop and go driving.
I am not even positive if it's the back holder or the bottom rail - I am going to let this evolve until it becomes obvious which loose screw needs a drop of Loctite.
