2016 E-350 issues. Please help

I love my 2016 E-350 Sport. It has 63,500 miles on it and I plan on keeping it for a long time. I believe like any car it has a few issues I need help with.
1) The transmission in economy mode sometimes seems confused on what gear to be in during moderate acceleration. It feels like it is jerking at times and not smooth is the best way to describe it. The Mercedes tech I spoke with says in economy mode it starts in 2nd gear. I'm not sure that is the issue I'm feeling. I've read where you can do a transmission reset so the transmission learns how you drive????????
2) When I run the A/C the air flow fluctuates lower and higher. How do I fix this?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

In E mode transmission starts on 2 (with your engine) but if you step on it, you are overriding the soft start, forcing the computer to shift to 1 and that comes with jerking.
So is it you, or is it the car?
Same with AC on auto. Computer follows the program that adjust the flow depends on sensors readouts. If you don't like what computer is doing, you can override fan manually.
I think MB clima control is 1 of the best.

I also had a time where the transmission seemed confused when shifting. Since it was @50K+M and due for service, I mentioned it to the service agent and to service the transmission as well. The SA at the time indicated the transmission was due for service at 70K and they would look into the issue.

A day later at pickup, the order indicated "customer complained about jerking of the transmission", then something about inspected, transmission mount damaged, mount replaced. Covered under warranty, no charge. Once I left the dealer, I realized I had forgotten how that drove when new. Amazing again.

If your vehicle is still under warranty, I would ask the SA to take a look at the mount, codes and it is due for service very soon anyways, which means transmission reset.

I have since reset my transmission a few times when taking both batteries out (start/stop ECO headache), plus other tweaks, and the transmission is always very smooth. If the above passes, I would go with Kjatek1 and start checking driving habits

Since you list a C300 in your profile, I wonder about your impressions between them.

All the best,

Have you had the transmission serviced? I believe it requires it at 50K.

Here is the page from MY2016 service booklet

and here is the MY2014 service page

Very different service schedules.. Wonder why? I thought both cars were fairly the same. I guess "lessons learnt"

+1 on getting the transmission “serviced”. Oil and filter change in layman’s terms.

my 2016 E350 4matic always starts in 1, whether in E or S mode. in E mode, it doesn't stay in 1 very long

Had a “surging” problem when accelerating with my 2016 E with 30k miles. Dealer replaced trans mount and all is well. Btw, work was done under warranty.
Was told this would have to be done on a recurring basis. I wonder if this is a long term recall item done under warranty.

geez, i'm used to engine and trans mounts lasting at LEAST 100K miles and even 250K miles. My Jetta that I really thrashed on needed mounts every 100k, my RWD volvos and older mercedes would go 250K or more. 30K is ludicruous.

I was told something similar @55K, and I am sure it was happening before that, so mine lasted @45K+. Between the trans mount which seems easy to fix under a lift (which I do not have), and the engine mounts videos I have seen online, I monitor any vibration at idle, or weird shifting.

Thank you for your help. My wife drives the car mostly so it may very well be me and not the car. I will research the information you provided.

I recently took my car to the MB dealer and they did not mention that a transmission service was needed. I will call them tomorrow. Thanks for your help. We sold our C300. I think it was more responsive than the E-350.

Anomalies end up on forums. The other 50 Million transmission mounts produced that year went 100k.

Get a Sprint Booster and your car starts acting the way it is supposed to without re-setting the transmission every 2-3 weeks. Re-set will be a big help to your issues but with SB you don't need to do that re-set procedure. It is good at all times.

I had SB on my 2011 E350, have it in my current 2010 E550 and will get it for my other current 2013 S550 too.

Simply makes the car way more fun to drive without gas pedal lag that re-setting takes care of.
