The 3.0L TT V6 has a good reliability track record. Do your due diligence by reading through the threads on this forum section. Good luck with the purchase if you decide to go that route.

Aside from the slightly high mileage, that car is one of the most fully optioned car you will find. Has the driver assistance package, parktronic, lighting package, pano sunroof, keyless go, power trunk closer, folding rear seat, etc. In addition some standard stuff on the E400 that you don't get on the E350 is the heated and cooled seats, I don't think you can get cooled seats on an E350 and real leather is standard on an E400, an optional item on an E350 that many don't get. I would grab that one as fast as you can as you never really find them as fully loaded as that one, only issue is the 117k mileage, a little on the high side but that engine should be able to go the distance, just a variant of the M276 engine that's in the E350.

Very well-equipped car, that part's awesome, mileage is high, but not too bad, pricey though, trade in around 14,500 and retail at 18,000 so work on the price, it's the only downside. The market is crazy now though.

If you want to keep a car for 30 years, yeah probably a hard pass. But if you just want to drive it for 10-15 years, rust isn't an issue. Usually cars don't start to fall apart or start really rusting til about 15 years so it's got way more life left in it. Most people probably just want to keep a car between 5-10 years or less.

all that fancy fully optioned stuff is more expensive things to break in the long term, but nice while its working.

as far as reliability goes, the last year of a series is usually the best, so fro the w212 that would be 2016.

2015 E400 and 2015 GLK350
I've had my 2015 E400 4Matic since new. I have nowhere near the mileage that example does (I"m only at about 48K now) but the car has been pretty solid in general. A couple of rattles, a bad (very creaky and very hard to diagnose) anti-sway bar bushing failure, and the usual consumables like brakes and tires.

The twin-turbo engine is a blast to drive, but it might be a tad bit more noisy than the normally aspirated E350.

There aren't very many E400's out there, so if you want one, this may be it for a while. When I bought mine the sales advisor told me that of the 50K E-Class cars sold in the US in 2015, only about 10% were the high-performance variety.

I have most of the fancy stuff on my two cars and most of them haven't broken down. Pano roof might develop a cracking noise if the bolts are loose, but it was under an hour to drop the rear of the headliner and tighten up those 6 bolts with loctite, quiet ever since. Keyless go I had issues with in my W211, bad door handles, but the handles are better in the W212 and the only real issue is the higher cost of the key if you lose it or if it goes bad which isn't that common. Same with the headlights, those are way more expensive than regular ones but my bixenons have been fine. I don't think too many people have reported any issues with the lighting package as those are leds. Parktronic can have a bad sensor here or there, I think those sensors are about $40 but it's more the labor to take it apart to replace. Have them on both cars and no issues with it. He's more likely to run into common issues that affect all of them like motor mounts and suspension issues. Replaced my springs/struts/shocks in the 120k range so that would probably be coming up soon on that car.

Couldn't have said it better myself. The only option it's missing is the Bang and Olufsen Soundsystem and Designo interior.

Not sure what your budget is, and if you care about the mileage. But I'd grab that.

I have been watching this listing on Facebook Marketplace for over a year of this W212 E400 with a Designo interior but that wouldn't even call me to negotiate. I'm thinking he doesn't wanna sell.

I owned 2010 E350, 2012 E350 and now drive 2015 E400.
Reliablity issues: the 2012 transmission failed, spun bearing sent metal thru the entire 4matic, replaced under warranty. I understand that the tranny oil pan enlarged in later years and I had been following the MB service protocol.

2010 had the rear bumper sensors failed and were replaced under recall. These radar sensors are part of blind spot assist system.

E400; Now Am getting the error messages that indicate the rear bumper blind spot assist inoperative. Not sure if this one is on a recall. The power difference of the e400 is nice. When the auxillary Battery fails the Brake hold stops working.

E class 4 Matic have amazing performance in Canadian winter conditions.

If you disable the eco/start stop the battery will last much longer. You can either do it per drive cycle or permanently with coding (which I did with mine).

MB replaced the rear bumper radar sensors on the 2015 E400 at no cost, after the 2 year bumper to bumper warranty expired. There is likely a silent warranty.
