Are there any common places to check for dashboard rattles? Or a thread that has some solutions?

not that I know of personally. I am sure you're not the first Benz owner chassing a rattle, right?

Try to process by elimination to locate rattle:
top vs. bottom - then Left vs. Right so you have a location identified.

Once that look at what components are in there and how you can keep 'em from RUBBING AGAINST EACH OTHER.

MB uses sticky felt strips between parts so they slide more easily...

I guess you can remove all the trims and unecessary items to gain better access (glovebox, central comand, display...) eliminate every things until the answer becomes obvious.

While you have things out... resolder loose pins along the way! Many-many modules around dashboard need TLC.

air duct....

Does your pipe 290 not fit with glovebox nipple ??
Can you press it on or what is the problem ?

It is low aire stream pressure, no need for any clamp.

It's either one of these...:
  • the wrong part
  • pipe is turned around
  • installed up side down
based on the fact it's a part you ordered for replacement, the problem may be a part mismatch or as described above.

They may make two, one for right hand drive, one for left.

Does your replacement part match the picture above? Exactly? Or is it reversed, if it's reversed, it's likely for right hand drive car.

Ok, let's start over, where are you located and which side of the car is the steering wheel on?

Ok, then your part should look exactly like the one in the schematic above. If it doesn't you have the right hand drive part.

it just attaches to the HVAC box and pops into the hole in the top of the glovebox, So maybe attach to HVAC box, put glove box in place loosely, then reach up behind glove box to insert tube into glovebox hole?

2014 E550-sold 😩
Lots of discussion regarding getting that new part in the hole. Shouldn’t be this difficult, unless you have a right handed part by error. I think everything has been covered to help out. Now you are back on your own. Good luck
