Not ALL. Two of my three grandsons have metal braces (without the metal bands) cemented to the front of their teeth, using the rubber bands, etc.

Clear plastic retainers, yes...

I think that would work. The elastic would get some friction and take up some of the space. Overtime due to heat the rubber bands might break off though

I am surprised a lot of you are having the issue since new with the W212. On my car, the driver's side is in perfect condition (knock hard on wood), but the passenger's side started sagging after 3 years. My wife usually has it down, so I think it wears out on the friction spring the visor uses on the pivot side.

Sister's W211 driver's side was sagging and someone glued velcro on the Alcantara headliner, , it is $500 for each of the visors if you find them (last month there was one available in Germany). After a while it made a tiny hole in the headliner where the glue attached to. I opened the visor with a sharp spatula, and after breaking through the heat resistant glue I was able to see the source of the problem: a broken metal clip that presses on the shaft along the edge of the visor.

Anyways, I just found a pair of 2009 AMG63 visors, not Alcantara, but they look brand new (impressively new) for $80 on Ebay. I could not resist, so got them. Screw the Alcantara suede feeling.

Maybe I'm having a different problem. In my case, the visor's shaft snaps into its overhead clip just fine. . . BUT. . . once it is clipped securely into the receptacle, the visor still bobs up and down 1/2 inch or so. The rod is tightly clipped into the clip/bracket.

My solution of sliding the visor side-to-side on its pivot rod works fine for me, but obviously wouldn't help any if the visor couldn't be clipped into the ceiling receptacle. Good luck with that.

Maybe a couple of wraps around the rod with electrical tape or duct tape?

Just tried on the passenger side, and I did hear the click and stayed in place perfect for now. Thank you

one thing leads to another...

A while ago I showered mine with lubricant spray. It then moved and snaped normally 👏
I concluded the special Benz lubricant had sublimated.

I then poped the trim pieces off my clunky sunroof for a repeat lub job on the spring drive but then my OCP started not posting temperature....

Just found this thread. I was having this problem on both of my visors on my new to me 2016 E350 wagon. Unclip the visor, rotate it towards the windscreen and then rotate it hard up around the rod, using the extra space gained by being in the windscreen area. There is a little click and it suddenly stays in the detent on the rod. It can then be rotated back and clipped in again. They get loose when using again, but I don't mind as I don't use them very often; Mine has designo interior with alcantara so they would be very expensive to replace.
