2010 E550 Squeaky Brakes, part quote from MB
Hello. Recently added 2010 e550 to my garage. Has about 71k miles and unknown maintenance history. Car is in tip top shape but the breaks squeal like crazy when the car is cold. Basically worst squeaking is going from the garage in reverse when starting out for the day. Then the brakes squeal most of the time I slow down but not as loud as when cold. Reading a lot online about possible brake rotor issues. How would I know if it's just pads that need replacement or rotors too? I have done the test where I stop hard from high speed and I don't feel a ton of shudder or pull in the steering wheel.
The dealership quoted me about $600 for the rotors, pads, bolts, sensors for the front (just parts not labor) just over half of the price is in the rotors. Do these part prices look alright?
I plan to do the job myself but I don't feel like replacing parts that aren't bad yet.

Chances are your caliper bores got rusted by condensate. At that point pistons no longer pull back just a hair and the pads stay in contact with the disks.
The floating calipers pins like to be silicone lubed

Don't compare MB dealers to a Midas job... you can always find cheaper if that's your preference

If you want free replacement OE parts, get them at FCP Euro - Now that's hard to beat this value deal specially on Akebono ceramic pads.

Tell me more about free parts please?
Thanks!!!

This business model is pretty wicked when you know how to repair vehicles. Consumables like OE brake pads, leaky sensors, plastic pulleys, plugs, control arms... with endless savings.
MB performance is built on parts with a short lifespan, FCP makes ownership a no brainer.
I am not affiliated with FCP nor anyone... have a look.

I purchased from FCP euro, I think I got the pagid brand pads and a wear sensor.
So far no squeaky brakes. The car stops great.
The old pads surprisingly looked fine and not even a quarter worn down. They looked like mb original pads.
Thanks to all those that replied, maybe I'll get some drilled rear rotors to match the front for aesthetics, seems weird only the fronts come drilled.
My GT350 had cross-drilled rotors front and back, but it’s a track derived performance car, not a highway rocket sled like the W212.
