Rear Trunk Kick Sensor Intermittently working

Hi, have a MY14 E350 W212 and the kick sensor has been working intermittently. I'm unsure if its the Rear Switching Module causing this fault or the kick sensor wire like sensor to be bad.

The car is reading a fault from the Keyless Go - Rear switching module. But unsure if it pertains to either the module or the kick sensor. Thoughts?

The kick sensor is tied to the Keyless Go. If the Keyless GO is malfunctioning, you may be having issues with opening the trunk with the handle as well.

layered CAN of worms...

The KeylessGo module is a nice distributed CAN design built with solderless connector pins. You can get your dealer to code a new unit or you can simply solder loose pins to begin with.

The kick sensor is a proximity loop wire antenna connected to KG, as simple as this can be.

There is a bit more to these CAN troubles. There is not one single fix here, it's a collection of improvements for a layered oignon.
It's not just the BlindSpots, KeylessG, RFK, DCU, LPFP... it's the glitchy CAN between SAM's that makes all this wonky.

1-> Are you seeing Door module errors (DCU), specifically Rear Passenger? (existing firmware update TSB).

2-> Are you plagued with low battery/ALT voltage?

Soldering KeylessGo is a welcomed relief for a responsive kick with low-latency.

I can never figure out where mine is to begin with. By the time I stand there kicking at air for 30 seconds and looking like an idiot, I just fumble around with my semi-empty hand and find the fob.

My call for action was.... when I saw a guy kick open his trunk perfectly on a compact Ford.
Like you, I was doing ridiculous voodoo moves on one foot hoping to get lucky with my luxury car.

All that's needed to kick the trunk open is to stand in the center rear then raise you foot once near bumper, done!

When the kick hardly cooperates, its a clear sign the KeylessGo is acting nuts. Not operator error!

There is also a delay of a couple seconds when I kick. But yes, stand right in the center and kick up, don’t sweep

I know how the trunk kick works personally. I use to always use it, but since it’s been really unpredictable lately i just don’t even try. There have been times when i even try the handle it doesn’t work.

I’m assuming it’s not the kick wire sensor then? but the Rear Switching Module?

Does it require SCN Coding?

I believe i do, but it was tied to another can issue. Perhaps the wiring harness has been shorting this entire time? and even you shorted the entire van network
