S212 Hatch not opening

Hey guys my hatch is having issues opening. It's making like a sputtering sound and then just drops. It does eventually open though so I'm thinking it may be the motor going out? Has anyone had this issue and fixed it DIY?

I replaced the 2 support struts with Stabilus replacements, solved the issue!

I replaced the two struts with OEM. Still happens once in a blue moon.

I've been wondering if I should proactively replace these.

yes, it's a great idea to have you rear trunk hatch be effortlessly balanced. The actuator motor is not built to handle heavy weights for long.

Found these by the way. For $18, it's worth the gamble.
