Which headlights do I originally have?

Hello, I just bought a 2014 W212 and this is my first post here because I couldn't find any threads about my issue.

So my car has the normal LED headlights but when I checked the VIN it's equipped with codes (642 DYNAMIC LED HEADLAMPS, RIGHT-HAND TRAFFIC) and (628 AUTOMATIC HIGH BEAM SWITCH PLUS (IHC+)) and when I turn on the high beams it gives me the below message

So the question is did it come with the ILS headlights and could've been replaced by the previous owner?

Thanks.

…or you have ILS and there is an issue with it at the moment. You definitely have full LED as noted in your data card.

Maybe post a close-up of a headlight so we can see if the assembly is correct, I believe they work off the camera in front of the rear view mirror, but it would be best to pull codes and find out. also do you have Distronic cruise? Do your headlights dance when you first turn them on? do they seem to be adjusted correctly on low beam?

Can someone with a facelift with lighting package chime in here? those look like the stock LED headlights with H7 halogen high beams to me.

OP, how about my other two questions and a new one, are you sure your headlights are exactly the same as your posted ones?

Yes, my full LED. Hopefully, the OP just grabbed the wrong image off the net.

its the auto highbeam. under the asst menu in the cluster you can turn it on or off. i keep that option off. i find its useless as it too sensitive and never put the highs on when i want them.

I posted my car here, I dont think it has Distronic cruise but the lights do dance and adjust when turned on.

These are the ILS headlights on my 2016, they look quite different than yours.

You can spot the difference via the daytime running light pattern. Full LED looks like backward quotation marks, and the other is a straight line pattern underneath the lightbulbs themselves.

If the question is did you get bamboozled, the answer is yes. To confirm visit an MB dealer.

Edit: yeah you got bamboozled.

Check the lighting package. https://www.auto-brochures.com/makes...Class_2014.pdf

So the question is did it come with the ILS headlights and could've been replaced by the previous owner?

^Not only possible, but they were replaced. Pretty obvious now that you shared your actual photo.

Based on VIN which is MB data, it has 642 ILS and 628 high beam. However, new headlights need to be coded as far as I know. I dont know if your original LED Control and Actuation modules/unit are still in the car attached to current unknown light...... or
it went bad too and that unknown light has its own modules.

So when u buy new ILS light COMPLETE, make sure you get all those 2 shiny metal modules per light.

Was the vehicle involved in an accident by chance? I’m not sure why anyone would voluntarily replace the headlights from the ones you should have to the ones you do have, unless forced to? They’re pretty darn reliable. I note you’re car is black (mine is too, 2014). How’s the front bumper look and feel? Does it look like it’s brand new, paint super smooth with no signs of road grime grit damage with age? I can tell you, I take great care of mine, and at 60k mikes on it, no amount of rub/buff is going to make the front bumper look brand new again. Only a paint job will bring it back to new. I don’t have damage, just the usual highway commute west and tear. It’s got grime marks on it, and no amount of clay bar and correction will fix it perfectly at this point. So if yours is looking like it’s absolutely pristine with no signs of age, then perhaps it’s been repainted via a repair and that’s where insurance kicked in and refused to pay the premium to replace the full LED lenses, that you’re supposed to have. Did you buy this from a MB dealership?

nah man i live in a country where there is no insurance at all lol but im guessing the previous owner could’ve saved some cash by replacing them because the car is accident free and the bumper is not brand new and its not repainted except a little lower part of it near the lower grill. Mine is the white one and it had around 42k miles when i bought it.

What country is that? So what happens if it gets stolen? Sometimes the vin contains the country but all yours say in that area is Authorities sales.
