Vibration on steering wheel when car is stopped

Hi guys. My car is w212, E350 4matic, 2010 with 19 inch rims. When the car is completely stopped and I turn the steering wheel left or right there is a vibration in the steering wheel. The problem doesn't depend on whether the car is on "D", "N" or "R". When the car is moving even slowly the problem is not observed. Somebody with the same issue ? How this can be resolved?

A/C compressor not running, right?

replace steering oil + serpentine kit
then pump regulator may be shot... new pump!

vibrations vs. freeplay

The torque of the oversized wheels may have chewed on the old rack & pinion steering gear, bearings and tie rods. How is your steering freeplay: S-M-L ?

Assessing your steering wheel freeplay:
  • none
  • a little
  • a lot
This is an indication of the rack & tie rods health.
(overlooking wheel bearings).

A worned out serpentine tensioner can do that well and keep everyone guessing what is causing the pump pressure to surge. I've had that

There isn't a steering wheel freeplay.

pump regulator 😜

Then you're good to run down this list one item at a time:
  1. belt tensioner kit
  2. steering pump and HP hose
  3. rack and pinion with alignt

Hello, at the auto repair shop told me that this vibration comes from the friction of the tires when turning in place. It sounds reasonable because on some surfaces it's barely noticeable.

We go back to the OP where you have the answer to your question:
"When the car is moving even slowly the problem is not observed".

Skill from non-power steering cars:
NOT steering the tires from L to R without moving at all remains a pretty good practice!

It strains the tire plys integrity, steering tie rods and rack bearings. The outcome is soft tires plus worned out steering looseness/freeplay.

As the Doctor would say “ then stop doing that”.

I replaced the two engine mounts. No more vibrations in the steering wheel. It is so quiet in the car now, that you can't tell whether the engine is working.

To get vibration from engine mounts , up to steering wheel at idle in neutral....... your flexible engine mounts has long gone and its already hitting the engine mount housing.
Is the black rubber flap of engine mount has this friction markings and also the metal top part of the mount ?
