If you're in the US, the car uses the old daylight savings dates which were changed, I reset my clocks in both cars for the two weeks that they lengthened it to and it just goes back to the DST after driving a couple times, you'll have that in the spring too.

...except in the facelift models, the clock seems to get its calibration signal directly via the GPS signal used for navigation. This is updated in "real time" regardless of DST or standard time, so the clock springs ahead or falls back whenever GPS displays the current time.

Don't know if I stated it correctly, but at least I've not had to manually adjust the time...

This is correct.

I remember trying to diagnose an electrical issue and I had disconnected the battery while the car was in underground parking, and after reconnecting it, the date/time on the car were reset to 1 Jan 2017 00:00. Couldn't figure out how to set it manually through COMAND.

I guess there was no GPS signal 2 levels below because once I drove out of underground parking, I heard a whining noise and saw the clock between the AC vents automatically setting itself to the right time.

Nice! I had to learn to put up with it being wrong for weeks twice a year.

i tried resetting my clock as per you tube instructions. after playng with it for about an hour i could not get it to start the next morning. the battery was dead. i got it jump
started and ran it for about an hour. brought it discount auto and had them test it. the alternator showed good voltage and the battery checked out good. they suggested putting a trickle charge on the battery over night and then bringing it back for further diagnosis they felt that the trickle charge would correct the problem.
i will see what the diagnosis is tomorrow. hopefully the battery and alternator will check out good and i won't have to buy a new battery.
any input, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
thank you, biker
