A Little e400 Appreciation
Well I’ve had the car for a little over a year. It’s not my first Mercedes so I’m no stranger to the brand but the w212 has some quirks that have ultimately left me on the fence of moving on to something different.
Then sometimes, I catch myself seeing another e400/e350 driving down a road and can’t help but appreciate how aesthetically pleasing these cars are, which at least for me, is not a reaction evoked by w213 architecture.
So here’s a little appreciation post, for what may eventually be an OEM+ interpretation of what I believe this car should have had for options when it was built back in 14’.
What keeps you in your w212?
My winter set up in the photos below is a square set of 19x9.5 et48 OEM cls550 rear wheels with 5mm spacers in the front and 12mm out back. These are wrapped in 255/35 Pirelli Scottozero II’s.

not in practical sense as I don't like to drive slow, but 40 mpg while cruising at 100 mph does the trick.
My car has over 150k miles on it, still taken for a new.

I like mine because it is modern enough to have all the goodies, but doesn't feel like a strip club with no buttons on the inside. I like that it's squared off and reminds me of older mercedes. Mine also seems a lot more solid than my W211, but I think a lot of that has to do with not having a pano roof in my w212.

This place is a joke.
The 213 is a dud, and a poor seller in the U.S. It's actually nothing more than a long wheelbase C-class with puffy fenders and a different dashboard. Don't be fooled.

I like W212 styling and my favorite Mercedes-Benz E Class ever . Interior layout and door panels exactly strike on my taste as well

Ummm. . . nobody mentioning the torque curve and output of the E400?
That, by itself, is worth another few years' of continued ownership for me.

Yeah, they're pretty sleek. I haven't seen mine in about three months. Lives in a storage unit.

what keeps me in mine? power looks and reliability. won’t post an essay about the cars i’ve raced and beaten (because this isn’t that kind of forum) but if you get a tune you’d be surprised at the cars you’re faster than 🫡

Which tune did you go for? I've been using a JB4 for a few years and am happy, but I see eurocharged (I think) is advertising 480BHP with their ECU tune. I have not gotten the opportunity to win many stoplight runs due to lack of interest from others, but my tuned bluetec has certainly pissed some people off.

My M278 221 is similar. Stangs n Vettes don't expect such a large boat to STILL be next to them Lol. Their facial expressions are funny.
